The Sims 2 Pets

Also known as: The Sims 2: Pets [UK]

It may be time for Travis to get his gun out

But picking options from a drop-down menu and just watching them being enacted feels clinical and detached. Fundamentally, you're still at the mercy of your Sims' hygiene requirements, and the pets end up feeling like another chore to get over and done with in this menial little world.

The addition of pets has made Sims 2 marginally cuter, but the novelty quickly wears off as you still spend the majority of your time making sure the toilet is regularly cleaned.

You'll love
  • Cats and dogs are fun to watch
  • Especially in ridiculous costumes
  • Basic Sims gameplay is intact...
You'll hate
  • ... But made tedious by the controls
  • Stripped down presentation and options
  • Town Square mostly just Pet Square
