GC Preview | Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
In this morning's press conference, Nintendo announced there will be two versions of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess shipping. One will be for the GameCube, the other a specifically-tuned game designed to make use of Wii's newfangled remote control. The current-gen, GameCube version will be the same game, but without the new controller ...

GC Preview | One Piece: Grand Adventure
Pretty soon, you'll be able to play the entire Cartoon Network lineup of new-to-America anime. Granted, many of these games aren't too hot (Inuyasha, for one), but the last One Piece game surprised us all by being a mindless-but-fun pirate ...

GC Preview | Zatch Bell!: Mamodo Fury
When it comes to anime video games, you've really got to suspend your disbelief. It's common to see giant robots, overgrown lizards or talking suits of armor, but Zatch Bell: Mamodo Fury may have the weirdest excuse to pit four players against each other: wee-sized demon kids that need you to boss them around. Every 100 years, these mamodo come to Earth to duke it out by slinging elaborate, destructive spells across the quiet countryside. Thing is, they require a human to handle their spell ...

GC Preview | Over the Hedge
We've been manipulating furry little critters in video games for years, so how come playing platform actioner Over the Hedge didn't hit us as an exercise in boredom? The short answer: multiplayer. The slightly longer answer: a decent sense of humor. Over the Hedge takes its characters from an upcoming Dreamworks animated feature (code for "kiddie cartoon") in which a bunch of woodland creatures mount an assault on suburbia. As you can imagine, the idea is for hilarity to then ensue ... what ...

GC Preview | X-Men: The Official Game
The past few years have been very kind to comic book-based video games - but they weren't always skyscraper-swinging adventures like Ultimate Spider-Man. It used to be that every superhero game was a beat 'em up that threw waves of inept thugs at you while occasionally asking you to use the hero's signature power. Oh, there's plenty of fist-meets-face action in X-Men: The Official Game, but each level is built just for a specific character. Iceman's missions are fast-paced races that involve ...

GC Preview | One Piece: Pirates' Carnival
One Piece must be a charmed series. Most anime-based games rely so heavily on their source material to make them interesting that anyone who doesn't, say, fall asleep clutching a life-size Inuyasha pillow will be clawing their eyes out within moments. Not so with last year's fun fighter One Piece Grand Battle, and the same is holding true with Pirates' Carnival. Its screwed up cast and simple minigames should appeal to just about anyone who can stand the idea of sitting down in front of a ...

GC Preview | Baten Kaitos Origins
The original Baten Kaitos was something of a surprise. Hardcore, Final Fantasy-style RPGs like this are the bread and butter of the PS2, but the Nintendo audience typically goes in for Zelda style action. But here we are with a sequel - a shocker in and of itself, as support for the GameCube is drying up fast. It's not a slap-dash quickie, either; it's a gorgeous, playable and refined role playing game that will provide you with dozens of bizarre hours of questing. Can't argue with that. For ...

GC Preview | Tomb Raider: Legend
We've talked plenty about Tomb Raider Legend in previous articles, but what we haven't done is given you a level-by-level description of it - until now. We'll keep the spoilers and the small talk to a minimum, though we will warn you that Eidos has made us promise not to show you every level yet, so the screens don't always match the levels. Also, we do reveal a few story details here, so consider yourself spoiler alerted. Clear? Okay. Grab your gear. The first level is appropriately swaddled ...

GC Preview | Pac-Man World Rally
Well, if it took until 2006 for Sonic the Hedgehog to get a tricked-out snowboarding game, Pac-Man might as well get a go-kart racer too. Pac-Man World Rally is still a few months away, but it has all the hallmarks of a potentially capable Mario Kart clone. By now, you know what's up. Pick a mascot character (this time from the land of Namco) and power-slide him/her/it through winding, outlandish courses that could never really exist. In addition to obvious stars Pac- and Mrs. Pac-Man, you'll ...

GC Preview | 2006 FIFA World Cup
You wouldnt be remiss to consider EA Sports latest soccer game a quick sequel to the annual chart-topper, FIFA Soccer. No doubt the publisher wants to cash in on its massive investment in the worlds biggest sporting event. Curiously though, this games producer goes to great lengths to pitch 2006 FIFA World Cup as a sequel to the 2002 World Cup iteration, and not the recent FIFA Soccer 06. This matters why? Mainly because FIFA Soccer 06 was generally considered to be pretty stinky, particularly ...
