GC Preview | Super Monkey Ball Adventure
Thursday June 1 2006 Did anyone ever actually sit back during a game of Super Monkey Ball and wonder what those entombed monkeys did in their spare time? Didn't think so. Looks like we're gonna find out anyway, as Adventure breaks them free from their floating puzzle trays and sets them loose in a full 3D quest to save monkey kind. Main monkey AiAi is still trapped inside the same globular prison as always, but instead of directing him to a well-defined goal, you'll lead him through vast, ...

GC Preview | LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy
Our first real glimpse of Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy was of Luke Skywalker running over pedestrians in a landspeeder. As he thoughtlessly careened around the streets of Mos Eisley, any Lego people who got in his way were reduced to flailing their limbs while lying helplessly on their backs. No wonder those goons in the cantina don't like him. While it still features plenty of the adorable lightsaber-swinging, puzzle-solving, multiple-character-controlling action that made the ...

GC Preview | Cars
Lately, we've seen a lot of movie-based games that try to expand on - instead of directly adapt - the story of the film they're based on. The Godfather did it, Over the Hedge did it and this summer, Cars will do it. Picking up where the movie left off, Cars casts players as red stock-car Lightning McQueen and sets them loose to explore the colorful desert town of Radiator Springs. ...

GC Preview | Naruto: Clash of Ninja 2
We've all been in our share of scraps through the years, but none of us had to put up with the rigors of ninja school... that we're aware of. This year's Clash of Ninja faithfully adapted the anime into a chop-socky, lightning-quick fighter, and the sequel is set to do it all over again. With more of everything, of course. Twice the locations, 23 selectable fighters and more solo play modes than the original. Sounds great, but for now, just soak up the new screens by clicking the images ...

GC Preview | DK Barrel Blast
Remember the bongo controller? You know, that thing that came with Donkey Konga and then teleported itself into the back of your closet? Well, it may actually get another use this year with DK Bongo Blast, the requisite kart-racer no one knew was coming. There are two notable differences between this and every other kart klone out there, thogh: this game gives its participants jet belts instead of karts, and you bang a drum to make it go. By beating on the bongos, you power Donkey Kong's ...

GC Preview | Superman Returns
We got a chance to view the new Superman Returns game in all of its primary color-lovin' glory, and that tiny taste leads us to believe that this could be Superman's best console adventure yet. Focusing on the non-linear style of gameplay found in other superhero favorites (like Spider-man 2 and The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction), Superman Returns delivers an open Metropolis with a sprawling 80 square miles and over 7,000 ...

GC Preview | Super Paper Mario
Amidst all the bright lights and brand new hardware demos at this year's E3, the GameCube appeared to be all but dead. Actually, yeah, it did appear to be dead, as there was no hoopla surrounding Super Paper Mario, an upcoming 2D adventure that mixes typical jump-action with Paper Mario 2 's role-playing attributes. How, exactly, this blend will be brought about isn't clear. Right now, all that exists are a few screens and a slick little movie. From those, we can tell you that there's some ...

GC Preview | Super Monkey Ball Adventure
Did anyone ever actually sit back during a game of Super Monkey Ball and wonder what those entombed monkeys did in their spare time? Didn't think so. Looks like we're gonna find out anyway, as Adventure breaks them free from their floating puzzle trays and sets them loose in a full 3D quest to save monkey kind. Right. Main monkey AiAi is still trapped inside the same globular prison as always, but instead of directing him to a well-defined goal, you'll lead him through vast, open-ended worlds ...

GC Preview | The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
In this morning's press conference, Nintendo announced there will be two versions of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess shipping. One will be for the GameCube, the other a specifically-tuned game designed to make use of Wii's newfangled remote control. The current-gen, GameCube version will be the same game, but without the new controller ...

GC Preview | One Piece: Grand Adventure
Pretty soon, you'll be able to play the entire Cartoon Network lineup of new-to-America anime. Granted, many of these games aren't too hot (Inuyasha, for one), but the last One Piece game surprised us all by being a mindless-but-fun pirate ...
