Resident Evil: Code Veronica

Claire's search for her brother takes her to Umbrella's European HQ. Unfortunately, she's captured and taken to an Umbrella-run prison island. An outbreak of the T-virus hits the island, so Claire manages to escape along with fellow prisoner Steve Burnside. They escape the attention of the loony Alfred Ashford, the head of the facility, by escaping to an Antarctic base. Claire's brother Chris follows them there, where they defeat Alfred and his mutated twin sister Alexia. Both Claire and Chris survive, but Steve is injected with a new T-Veronica virus and dies.

Umbrella co-founder Edward Ashford also worked on the Progenitor Virus, but wanted to use its regenerative powers for the benefit of humanity. Unfortunately, he dies - of natural causes, though.

Alexia works on her grandfather's Progenitor virus herself and creates the powerful T-Veronica virus, which she tests on her father unsuccessfully - but she fares rather better testing it on herself.
