DK Barrel Blast

DK Bongo Blast

Monkey madness takes to the skies

Remember the bongo controller? You know, that thing that came with Donkey Konga and then teleported itself into the back of your closet? Well, it may actually get another use this year with DK Bongo Blast, the requisite kart-racer no one knew was coming. There are two notable differences between this and every other kart klone out there, thogh: this game gives its participants jet belts instead of karts, and you bang a drum to make it go.

By beating on the bongos, you power Donkey Kong's powerful Barrel Jets, which propel him through the expected mix of course environments and power-ups. Along the track are other barrels that launch DK and friends from point to point, possibly offering shortcuts or paths to hidden items.

Up to four people can play, so chances are this could make a decent party game when it ships later this year. We've got screens and a trailer showcasing the aerial action, so if you're aching to bust out those bongos, give them a look. And if you never caved and bought the bongos, don't worry - Bongo Blast will still work with a standard controller.
