In response to our look at the so-called "Wii drought" earlier this week, Nintendo has issued GamesRadar with the following comment, challenging suggestions that Wii is suffering a lapse in momentum.

Nintendo told us:

"In Q1 alone Nintendo has launched WarioWare: Smooth Moves, Excite Truck and Kororinpa. Plus there's a host of third party games launching including Sonic and The Secret Rings, SSX Blur, Tiger Woods PGA Tour, bringing the total library of Wii games available by the end of March to around 35 games, just 4 months after the hardware launch."

"In addition to this there is the ever expanding library of Virtual Console games, this year alone Nintendo has launched 21 Virtual Console games including The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time which launched today. This brings the total library to date to 55 Virtual consoles games available to download now (as of February 23, 2007)."

"Nintendo has also launched two new channels this year, the News Channel and the recently launched Everybody Votes Channel."

"Throughout the rest of the year Nintendo has a great software line up including Mario Strikers Charged, Mario Party 8, Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy to name just a few and will also continue to expand the Virtual Console library of games."
