Platforms: PS3, 360
Release date: April 27, 2010
Same Time As: Crackdown 2
Why it should succeed: It’s an awesome, open-world western by Rockstar – who would predict that it would fail (you know, other than us)? Who doesn’t want to be Clint Eastwood as The Man With No Name? Just watch the video below for a glimpse at the scope of the damn thing.
Why it will be ignored: It’s a western. Rockstar’s first attempt at the genre, Red Dead Revolver, received mixed reviews and sold nearly 1.5 million copies. That’s not bad, but it’s nothing compared to GTA IV, which sold 3.6 million copies on day one. And while Redemption is an entirely new game, hype for westerns just isn’t there. It strikes us as strange, because the western genre seems ripe for excellent games – it’s about riding horses, shootin’ stuff, stealin’ stuff, and looking really cool in the process. What the hell isn’t to love?

Same Time As:?
Why it should succeed: It’s a Left 4 Dead style four player first person shooter, and Left 4 Dead style four player first person shooters are huge right now. It’s got vampires and werewolves and zombies and a suitably diverse cast of rugged, take-no-prisoners combatants.
Above: It may look like Goldeneye, but non-babies have to take what they can get on the Wii
Why it will be ignored: It’s a Left 4 Dead style four player first person shooter for the Wii. Oh, and it’s compatible with Wii MotionPlus and Wii Speak… so owners of Animal Crossing: City Folk and The Conduit should be happy. In general, if we enjoy a third-party Wii game, it doesn’t sell, and that has been the case pretty consistently. See: Dead Space Extraction.
This is a special “doomed upon conception” award for the DS Okami sequel which does not yet have a Europe or US release date, but that, if released, will surely die as painful a death as Okami. If you haven’t been following GR for long, we sort of liked Okami.
