Games that are doomed to die in 2010

Coming back and reading this, I find it hilarious that Red Dead was included.

Red dead is doing very well has a few DLC's so there not dying?

Dante's Inferno was an awful game, and there was nothing generic at all about Resonance of Fate, aside from the name. and yea, Red Dead was only sold out for weeks, so clearly you were right on the money there

Looking back at this, I'm shocked that Gamesradar thought Dante's Inferno and Red Dead Redemption would flop. I don't know about Dante, but I feel like John Marsten did pretty well this year!

Sorry for the double-post, but did anyone notice almost all the games that were going to make these titles fail were terrible on their own?

Ha, this is actually really funny now that time has passed. RDR was extremelly succesful, quantom theory is coming out sept 28 2010. This was an excellent read and all, but its funny to see how the industry pretty much shattered these predictions. Too bad how FFXIII turned out.

how wrong you were about red dead redemption

so, I necro this with the words, Red Dead Redemption?

"Above: Japan’s most popular camera-angle and pose" LMAO! Too true! Well, I got No More Heroes and Tatsunoko vs Capcom instead of Mass Effect 2, so give me a pat on the back. Mostly I figured Mass Effect 2 will make it's money back, while TvC and NMH2 as niche titles on the Wii have a strong chance of losing money.

i miss the original sonic games for the sega genesis (i still have sonic 1 and 2 :D ) but when they started adding all those extra characters like shadow blaze silver and the like it just never got anywhere...there was too much character development and not enough story... i wish that they would just make a game with the original characters like rotor bunny and even antion (i have no clue how to spell his name :| ) and even princess sally and amy but if this is going back to square 1 then i guess its worth buying...if in anyway it happens to dammage sonics image anymore ill just burn every game i have =/

Sorry, but i have to disagree with a lot of choices here .. strongly disagree and for the following reasons. *****Tatsunoko vs Capcom***** ----------------------------- -Clearly The Wii is aimed at a different type of gamer than those who play ME2 ... sure there are those who have an Xbox360/PC and a Wii but they are a minority ... so i don't think Mass effect 2 will have any "effect" (yeah pun) on Tatsunoko vs Capcom whatsoever. As for No More Heroes 2 ... clearly the two games are aimed at different audiences ... again while some enjoy both types of games NMH2 is bloody violent and mature themed compared to most Wii Games including Tatsunoko vs Capcom ... not to mention it is a sequel ... Tatsunoko vs Capcom is a new outing and is mostly aimed at the fans of Capcom fighting games and Tatsunoko anime fans .... if it was released along with other fighting games or SF4 for example maybe it would have died .. but now i see no reason whatsoever for it to die .. it will be successful. *****Dante's Inferno***** ------------------------- Definitely not Bioshock 2 Dante has to worry about .. two different genres and two different audience groups ... if anything will kill Dante it's KRATOS ... in capitals and spades .. it is GoW3 we are talking about .. and Dante is pretty much the underdog here for many obvious reasons.. but Bioshock 2 .. i don't think so. *****Resonance of Fate***** --------------------------- While FF13 is indeed a behemoth of an RPG and is a wonderful and successful game ... people are cursing it all over the place for its extreme linearity and the story driven narrative choking the freedom the FF games were loved for ... seeing as RoF gives you a huge city to explore and lots of customization options and extra stuff to do around its locals it will indeed be a very different experience than the overly Cinematic Rail-driven FF13 experience. Tri-Ace make awesome RPG games and have a strong fan-base .. and the market has more then enough place for more than one RPG ... i don't see FF13 killing RoF in any way at all. *****Yakuza 3***** Sorry to completely disagree, the fans who played Yakuza 1 & 2 will dfinetly buy Yakuza 3 and they have been vocal about getting it (as mentioned in the article) .... also i don't think Yakuza and FF13 audience has that much of overlapping .. Yakuza is a story-driven open world action brawler ... something that FF13 isn't going to offer .. cinematic as it may be .. it is far from being open world or an action game .. clearly each game offers something different. *****Needle Mouse***** ---------------------- I simply don't care about Sonic anymore (he is dead and buried for me).. so i'll skip this one. *****Quantum Theory***** ------------------------ Crysis 2 killing this game .. i don't think so .. again you are ignoring the fact that it is a game aimed at a different audience ... but if anything is going to kill Quantum Theory its how it is overly similar to Gears of War 1 & 2 (same way Dante is overly similar God of War) .. that's its Demise .. redundancy. *****Red Dead Redemption***** Seriously .. this one made me laugh so hard .. frankly the opposite is what's going to happen specially if RDR2 goes multiplatform .. Rockstar achieved phenomenal success with GTA4 as you said ... they know how to make open world games work .. and seeing western Games are still selling well (Call of Juras 2 just came out few months ago) i don't see this failing in any way ... it's going to be a grand success and an EPIC game .. crackdown 2 is a console exclusive that only those who played Cracdown will be interested in .. but if Red Dead Redemption goes multiplatform ... it will squash Crackdown 2 hands down ... there is no comparison whatsoever regarding the scope of the two games ... RDR2 is clearly the superior game here. That's all i have to say ... but all in all even thought i disagree with the choices of the games here or their supposed killers i still find the article/feature a nice idea.

Dante's Inferno is hardly going to die, it may not be as good as GOW 3 but for people who only have an xbox 360 like myself it should provide an exciting enough alternative and has a better setting.

Well I won't be buying Okamiden if it comes out in Europe, because Okami on PS2 FUCKING SUCKED. Did you ever consider that viewpoint on the game, GR?

I will unfortunately help with these games' deaths, as I have no plans to buy any of them. Too many other quality games coming out.

I'm going to have to echo everyone else and say that you're very wrong about Red Dead Redemption. There's a large audience for it already and I'm positive it will sell very well. As everyone else has already said, you're wrong on that one and I'm positive it's sales will exceed 2 million (which is plenty by any measure). The rest of the list is great. Kudos for managing to squeeze both Okami and Sonic into the article. It's made me wonder whether there's a standing bet at the GR offices as to who can shoe-horn them into the most articles.
