A few interesting snippets of information and an official plot synopsis for Tim Burton’s upcoming
have been released via Disney.
Based on Burton’s short film from 1984, this new feature-length version of the tale will see Burton fulfilling his original ambition to turn the story into a full-length movie.
Set to be shot in black and white and then rendered in 3D (“which will elevate the classic style to a whole new experience,” according to Disney’s press release), over 200 puppets and sets have been crafted for the stop-motion film.
Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short and Martin Landau will all be lending their voices to the production.
As far as the official synopsis goes, Frankenweenie follows young Victor, who’s attempting to bring his dog Sparky back to life through scientific experimentation.
Succeeding, Sparky is now a “home-sewn creation”, who gets out and is revealed to the world – with disastrous results.

Frankenweenie opens in cinemas on 5 October, 2012.
