New things this week!

1 - QOTW will now be posted on the main site in addition to the forums. The best answers not only get read on the cast, but will also end up on the main GamesRadar site in the following week's article. (Link forthcoming, it's posting in a sec)

2 - This week's question is a bit broader, so as to get people who visit the site but not the forums to hop in as well. Answer here, or answer in the comments section of the article.

Anyway, the question is very simple - What's the first game you ever pre-ordered?

http://www.gamesradar.com/f/qotw-what-was-the-first-game-you-remember-pre-ordering/a-20090429152539951094

Answer here, there, wherever!

Our answers in TalkRadar 49, posting tomorrow!

Dang, everyone else's comments make me feel like a geezer so far.

Pokemon Yellow for me. But this is a bit interesting...
I didn;t go to game stores back then. All of my gaming needs were satisfied by Wal-Mart (I was 10, I didn't need much). Truthfully, I don't even know if there WERE game stores... But I was walking around the Wal-Mart when I see this giant cutout of Pikachu and Ash that says 'PREORDER NAOW OR WE EETZ UR SOLE!' (and who can say no to that?) with a pad of preorder sheets on it that you had to fill out like a bleeding magazine subscription and give to the guy at the counter. I THINK I got something in return for it (a trading card? I don't know), but I just thought it was interesting to note that once, Wal-Mart preordered games.

The first game i ever preordered was Banjo-Tooie for the N64 (quite ironic as it just released this week on XBLA). And the clincher is....I preordered it at Sears, since there werent any gamestops at the time.

As much as I hate to say it, Halo 2 was the first game I had ever pre-ordered.

Well if I remember right I preordered Medal of Honor: European Assault (on Dark Athena). But yeah I don't think it was really worth preordering cuz it was kind of not very good. But I really loved the Medal of Honor games so I couldn't say no.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas

I didn't even end up picking my pre-ordered copy up and bought it from somewhere closer to home to save myself a bus ride. Of course I could of just stolen a car and ran over some prostitutes for points on the way their. But the 5 minute walk was just more convenient.

First game I pre-ordered was Pokemon yellow. For once the guy at the game counter didn't lie about a game being sold out at launch.

I'm sad to say Star Wars Force Unleashed, and it was for my Wii. I am never not listening to you guys ever agian.

Photobucket

As the above pictures shows, the crappiness of Star Wars: Force Unleashed on the Wii lead me to getting a 360, so my first pre-order wasn't such a bad thing after all.

I pre-ordered Super Smash Bros. Melee at age 8. I was infatuated with the original, so I had to have this one.

The first game I ever pre-ordered was Halo 2. That's not much of a story, but the story comes when I went to go pick it up. Earlier that day, I went by the Gamestop I pre-ordered at to pay the remaining amount. I saw some stereotypical nerd in a lawnchair, swilling Jolt soda, and telling everyone that went inside that Halo 2 was getting a midnight release. He also felt it prudent to mention that he had pre-ordered two copies of that limited edition, one that he could play and one that, presumably, he could **** the shrink wrap off of. That night, I arrive about a half-hour before midnight and this fuctard is blasting the Halo 1 soundtrack out of a boombox. The moment the doors open, this guy bolts inside to get his copies. In his moment of complete nerd breakdown, he comes out with his two copies, triumphantly fist pumping them in the air. Then, some dude walks up to him, punches him in the face and runs off like an Olypmic sprinter with his second copy. Moments like that remind me that I want to be socially accepted.

I think it was Killer Instinct for the SNES. At the time I was under the impression that you could only get the soundtrack CD if you pre-ordered it, so that was my incentive to do so. The soundtrack probably saw more play than the game itself.

I also pre-ordered the Nintendo 64 console which came with a Nintendo 64 lithograph. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was another one I pre-ordered to ensure I got the gold cart.

Today, I pre-order anything put out by Atlus and any other game I think could be hard to find.

Aw crap, I'm sure I pre ordered Killer Instinct too. I am also realizing that I pre-ordered Mortal Kombat II and Final Fantasy III, both 1994 releases, which predate the answer I give in the podcast by about 10 months.
