Specifically, memories about breakups and the like, given that Saturday is Valentine's Day.
Our answers tomorrow, with our special guest, who rhymes with "Dan Amrich."

Mach Rider. No, really!
A buddy of mine had an NES before I did, I used to spend pretty much all day at his house. I guess I was 8 or 9 years old at the time, and any day I wasn't at school, I was over there playing the **** out of whatever we could afford to rent. His mom worked all day (parents divorced), so we had the house to ourselves, aside from his older sister, who really couldn't care less what we were up to.
One day we had to make something for lunch, so his sister put a pot of cooking oil on the stove to make some french fries for us, asking us to watch for when it was hot enough to cook the fries. Of course, Mach Rider took priority over this, and the entire kitchen caught fire. We didn't even notice until the smoke alarm went off - the brilliant neighbour heard the smoke alarm, and in his infinite wisdom came storming over with a GLASS OF WATER to douse the flames. Anyone with a grade three education knows that this is actually A HORRIBLE ******* IDEA. The flames immediately leapt up the wall - the kitchen was basically right beside the front door, so we were essentially dodging flames to get out of the house.
The moral of the story? I ALMOST FUCKIN' DIED TO PLAY MACH RIDER. **** YEAH.
Still, fire kind of freaks me out a little, but every time I see one, I think of Mach Rider. I guess that's kind of cool.

F-Zero GX. I can remember playing it shortly after a break-up, and getting extremely angry over the difficulty of the game and my teenage sorrow. It was a perfect storm of a frustrating game and prepubescent hormones. I turned it off, and every time I go back to the game, I get pissed.
Oh, and Han Ramdick is going to be on the next episode? I can't wait!

Mine's not a video game, but i'd be out of this if I didn't use this answer (and i feel people will bring themselves to forgive me).
It was just a normal day, i'm on my way to a friend's house, when my dad calls me in to the room, crying, saying that my parents were getting divorced. After that talk, I went to the friends like nothing happened and we played some Dungeons and Dragon. Ever since, any time someone mentions D+D I go back to that day.. But i don't go back because of the divorce. I go back to how horrible I was at the dungeon. It's obvious i'd essentially be in a daze the whole time, and he's presenting me with all these horrible problems and moral quandaries...it was really obvious he'd put a lot of work into this, and I just wasn't able to do ANY of it. There was 20 minutes where I was just thinking 'should i approach her or not?'
As for break ups with me...having only suffered one that was more of a blessing than anything, I got it good, fuckers!!

Dissidia: Final Fantasy
That game is hard, really hard... like, Disgaea hard. And Kuja is a cheap prick, even at level 18. To the point, I was stuck on a battle against Kuja ( If you don't who he is, look up the GR article: Gamings most emo emo moments/characters.) and kept dying over and over again to his plethora of one hit kills. I spent all night trying to kill him, all the while my hatred against him grew. I almost threw my PSP after one particularly cheap kill, had I not won the next match I might have. Now whenever I play, I Versus mode him at level 1 just so I can get my revenge.

This is so bad as it is a regret. I never finished ocarina of time because 1) the water temple of really hard and confusing 2) the guide I had was someone else's and I had to return it ya other than that all the games I've played have nothing but good memories attached to them.

My first break up happened while I was playing Pokemon gold, but it happened because of Streets Of Rage 2.This was my first girlfriend ,Hot girl to, Only her mom hated the fact that I got in fights with her brothers (Constantly). One of witch Started over Streets Of Rage 2 (Irony) and ended in me breaking one of his fingers (I didn't mean to). The next day she called me (while I was playing Gold) and said her mom didn't want us to hang out any more. So it was kinda at that age when her mom still said who she could and couldn't see. Still made me sad though, First girlfriend and all. I think that was the first time I like cried over another person.
Every time i played Gold after that I got all sad when ever I heard the battle music (odd music to get sad over). And every time I played Streets of Rage 2 (3erd stage in particular) I keep remembering the walk home after I broke (and I'm not joking about the name) Brett's finger. It was a good walk home too, Nice and cold, but the sun was up and the ground was green. Good times........ Then I got yelled at by my parents.

Hitman 2: Silent Assassin I rented the game and was playing for about an hour when my mom came into my room teary eyed, and told me that my grandfather had passed away. It pains me to type this, but after she left the room, I kept playing. I guess I was in shock or something, but I felt no emotion and continued to play for about 5 minutes. Eventually I came to my senses and went to my family crying, but I felt like shit at the funeral knowing that upon learning of my grandpa's death, my initial response was to just unpause Hitman and continue the game. Now whenever I think of that game, I think of my shameful moment.

Well, I generally associate the novel High Fidelity with all my meaningful breakups. I've reread it after almost every big breakup.
Most recently, my girlfriend of 4 years of off and on broke up with me via text message telling me to read her PUBLIC blog where "it wont explain everything, but it explains alot". And of course, I immediately buy my buddy's 360 and download Braid. (this was last summer)
But, before that, 10 years ago, I moved out of Alaska to get away from the reminders of my high school girlfriend. Two months later, my grandma, who half raised me died and I had to go back. After seeing my ex with her new boyfriend amongst our circle of friends at parties and whatnot that summer (I stayed 2 months after my grandma died) I borrowed my friend's Playstation and Metal Gear Solid(He told me I had to play it before I left). And feeling sorry for myself, I damn sure wasn't going to let Meryl die. I guess it could have been a metaphor for my grandma or my first love, both of whom I was helpless to do anything about, so I started tapping that damn button with every once of strength in the torture sequences. After my thumbs were too sore and Meryl kept dying, forcing me to reload, I found that I could place the knuckles of my fingers on the button and rub back and forth. Eventually my knuckles started bleeding. But at least I saved that useless 95 polygon count girl. At least I had power over something.

Soul Edge.
My high school had a few arcade games, SE being one of them.
It was during sophomore year, me and a girl were playing, and she asked me out to a movie Saturday night. I accepted.
That started a two year long relationship, stretching into senior year.
We were like the 'it' couple. Captain of the football team, head cheerleader.
It was the week of Homecoming, and before the game she wanted to play a few rounds of SE. I said ok.
She broke up with me after beating me in the first round of the first match.
I completely froze. She left, and I was just standing there for what must of been half an hour. Until my buddy came in and said the game was about to start.
I believe that bitch did it on purpose so we would lose the game.
We did too. I got hurt severely, tore my PCL and MCL in my right knee, on like the third play of the game.
Out of virtually the entire ******* school, she's the only person to not have visited me in the hospital.
I spit on every SE machine I see.

I used to purposely kill Lara Croft repeatedly as a passive aggressive way to relieve my frustrations that I was a fat kid that couldn't get a date. I never played Tomb Raider after I got laid. unfortunately though that didn't happen till I was 21... Dammit I'm pissed again just thinking about it.

gaming has always been a positive experience for me. one of the negative things of playing games is that my dad always tells me that im going to grow up to be a loser, a bum, and be that poor guy who works at a McDonalds who flips hamburgers every day for 10 hours.

Burnout Legends for the PSP. I was on holiday in Italy and was playing it while waiting for my family to finish getting ready so we could go out somewhere. I finish playing it and turn of my PSP. I sat up and sat on the edge of my bed ready to put my socks on so I put my feet down on the floor and I guess I put my right foot down at a weird angle because as it hit the floor I felt my leg dislocate at me knee joint. I paniced at starting shouting for help but god damn I'd locked the door of the room. So I had to stand up on one leg and hop to the door with my right leg pointing out at the weirdest angle I've seen in my life. I let my Dad in who came to help and hopped back to the bed and lied down in complete agony. Luckily it popped back to the right position by itself after like spasming after 5 minutes or so (during this time my parents were trying to figure out how to ask someone to phone an ambulance in Italian). It was ok after popping back in so I could walk a little bit but in this town everything is incredible spread out and the only way to get there easily is on bikes which were simple to painful for me to ride. So all I could do was sit in the hotel playing more Burnout Legend on my PSP with a sore as **** knee. Putting on socks is an incredible heroic way to dislocate something I'll have you know.

Guitar Hero 2 when i first got Guitar Hero 2, it was out of my own money, and i didnt tell my parents about it, because even after the constant begging, they wouldnt let me "waste" my money.
i hid it in my basement, and at about 2 in the morning, i would sneak the guitar out and play it on really low volume (my parents' room was upstairs)
one day while i was playing, my dad was coming down to get a cup of water, upon hearing his footsteps, i turned off the TV and hit behind the curtains (yea i know i might have been a little too old to do that, but i was desperate.
turns out my dad wasnt getting a cup of water, he was making himself something (turns out it was bacon and eggs)
<>
curious to why he would be making something, i stuck my head out the curtains and looked closely at my clock which read 6:30 in the morning.
i had been playing Guitar hero for over 4 hours...
i was still behind the curtains when my dad came to the living room, luckily he didnt notice the guitar i had hidden behind the TV.
He turned on the TV, only to notice the song selection screen (the guitar must have hit a few buttons when i quickly hid it).
He must have thought it was the TV listings channel or something, because he kept trying to change the channel. After a while, he turned on the lights and looked at the TV to change the channel with the TV buttons.but when he turned on the lights, he noticed me behind the curtains and staggered back, and stepped on my 360 (which he also didnt notice), the 360 turned off for some reason, and i heard the little sounds of the music selection screen suddenly turn off.
i got out of the curtains to see what had happened.
my 360's power adapter snapped off my 360, and the casing broke. My dad didnt care about this because he found the guitar behind the TV, and recognizing it from the many Future Shops and BestBuys we had gone to, he quickly realized what had happened.
my 360 was practically dead, as the power cord would NOT plug into the back, and i had to return Guitar Hero 2. They also took away all the money i had, claiming that was to too irresponsible to use it. (it was about 500 bucks)
after a few more months i had made enough money (again) to buy a Core version of a 360, which i am still using to this day.

I didn't lose or fought anyone over Mario Party(First one), but I remember being so close to wining a board in the game and Donkey Kong coming out of nowhere and screwing me out of the win. Needless to say i have never touched another DK game since.
