Question 19: What's the biggest videogame lie you've told?

Our answers tomorrow!

With emphasis on totally untrue stuff like "yeah my uncle, who lives in Japan, has played all the Zelda games and he's working on the next one but I can't tell you about it"

Or things you claim to have done but never did, anything like that. It's time to come clean!

I used to pretend that I'd played the games, even from a young age, when I hadn't.

Like, with GB games, I'd just read the box, and look at the screenshots, and be like "yeah, I've played it, it's okay..."

Or, play the demo discs you get with magazines, and just play those a ****-tonne, so I could pretend I'd played the game.
I did that with Destruction Derby on the PS2, for months.

I lied at great length throughout middle school about having ever finished Ocarina of Time. Today, I own up to it. But man...in 1999 I would get my ass verbally handed to me by all of my friends for never beating that game.

Most people prolly did or heard of something like this, but back in the days of Game Boy Color, I had my friend absolutely convinced that I had Pokemon Green at home and it had all sorts of powerful secret Pokemon that I was going to use to trounce his ass.

Someone was telling about KOTOR and I was like yeah, I beat that (I never have), and he proceeded to tell me what happens.

All I've gotta say is mind ****. That game? RUINED.

I don't know if this counts, but nonetheless...
When I first start posting frequently on GR (a little over a year ago, around the first of 2008), I had WiFi for Pokemon (reason why I posted). Anyway, about 2-3 weeks after this, I was in a chatbox and I was in the middle of a flame war. Someone wanted to battle me, but I didn't feel like it, because I knew I would lose (I really sucked at this time), so I gave the classic excuse "My WiFi is broken, won't let me connect". Seems innocent enough, right? Well, the next time I tried to connect (this was either the next day or the one after), and I couldn't. Yeah, no WiFi for me, damn karma.
Worst part, I haven't been able to connect ever since...

I think my worst gaming lie would involve "50 Cent Bullet Proof". I say I've never played/owned it, but I did own it, and I did play it......... Lord I'm ashamed.....

NOBODY CAN TOP THAT!!!

I used to pretend to be a hard core gamer when the only game experience i'd had had was at a friends house I was living a lie.

saying Ive owned cod 4 to friends who complain about W@W, the lie is totally impulsive, they'll probably find out ive lied just by checking my gamertag, and the fact im into battlefield which i demonstrate by playing it while their on cod4 and by saying its better everytime they complain. ive only played it once and didnt get that excited about it, the beta for W@W felt exactly the same, running out of ammo and dieing constantly along with restrictive environments

My 360 fanboy friends think that legend of zelda games are stupid for some reason, so i just pretend not to like them, so as not to get verbally abused.

Obviously games are expensive and I'm not made of money due to a family. So my gaming budget is about .1% of my annual income due to other responsibilities and the fact my wife HATES games with a passion. So how did I buy games? Behind her back with a credit card that she didn't know about. I tried hiding the bill once before I paid it and she flipped. Didn't talk to me for about 2 days or so. Now I just trade games in or sell them on eBay to get a new one coming out. She doesn't care about that.

Well, i claim that the games i make are good.

I pretend that OoT is the best game of all time, even though MM was better.

that is all that i can think of at the moment. I have lied about games since i was 6

Being in the 2nd-3rd grade, you always wanted to have the most systems.
I would find myself many times being like:

"Yeah, we've got a N64, Super Nintendo, PS1, and pretty much whatever else you've got."

I used to claim that I had leveled every singe pokémon to 100 in Pokémon Blue. In fact, I did not own a Gameboy and had never played any pokemon game at that time.

Also the other day I lied and agreed that a keyboard/mouse is better than a controller to my friend so that we could stop arguing. Everyone knows controller rule!
