Hey all - Chris is feverishly editing the 'cast as I type, and one of the topics is songs we really, really want to see in Rock Band. NOT Guitar Hero mind you, because we need the drums and vocals too. Maybe Guitar Hero IV when it comes out, but right now we're all about the four-way love quadrangle.
So, post songs you'd love to hear, maybe a youtube link of the video or something to get across the point. I go into great detail about my song - you should too! (PS it's "I Was There" from Green Day's first CD, 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours)
And it's not cause I like the song, cause there are plenty of other songs I like, but as a band they just go together so well, the instruments intertwine in an extreme fashion, with slow to heavier parts, and the vocals are amazing.
Also Staind would be a very good band, they are talented, and Aaron Lewis is one of the best singers on the face of this world, and their soft to heavy hitting music transitions so blissfully and would be HUGE for rock band since they are so famous already, but I don't see why the haven't been adapted yet.
The bonus features in the PS2 version of rock band has a video showing how the creators picked the tracklist - they tried to find good four piece bands with song that each musician contributed to equally. The example the video had was the Who - a good four piece band where each instrument stands out on it's own.
I imagine 'What I've Done' would be a pretty boring choice for rock band. It's all power chords, standard 4/4 drumming with essentially NO fills. The bassline is droning. The only part that could really be interesting to do would be the vocals - but that's true with almost any song. The whole 'band' mentality just isn't there with linkin park - the instruments almost play independant of one another.
I think Hotel California would be a great fit for Rock Band.
