Yea ok I'll admit it, This is a fix of a double posted thread... my internet sucks balls -_-

But hopefully it'll be a good one. My question is in your opinion, what game would you say is the most suprising success OR faliure of the year... or both if you want. If you want to predict a future release will fit one of these categories feel free, as long as it's releasing before january 1st it's all with in the rules of the game.

Personally I'd say the biggest suprise has been Batman Arkham Asylum, since I didn't think it'd be completely rubbish, but personally I was expecting somthing competant, yet uninspiring, basically avarage, much like the wolverine game, but luckily for us it was a whole lot more than that.

As for the most dissapointing, for me it was Prototype, it just had so much potential and for me atleast (I have played it before anyone tries to call me out) it was just a big mess, with enjoyable moments, but mostly stale, repetative, at times frustrating even, and suprisingly boring. Not saying it was god aweful, just distinctly and depressingly avarage.

I'd second Batman: AA. I just couldn't put it down. Borderlands, while I know why it's gotten great reviews and why people like it, I just don't like it. Not my kind of thing.

Ghostbusters for me. I didn't expect too much out of it since it was a licensed game but I was pleasantly surprised by it. It certainly wasn't even close to the best game I played this year but it was far better than I expected, and I enjoyed it alot more than I did Luigi's Mansion, which gameplay wise it's a pretty blatant ripoff of

I don't think people expected Batman Arkum to be that amazing/ 90% meta average across the board. Considering the licensed superhero games are not that known for being spectacular.

Probably Arkham Asylum. At first i just thought that it will be another "Batman game", but i was immediately proven wrong when i played the demo and i thought it was absolutely fantastic, with my favourite bit being the free-flowing combat, i just really like it.

For me, the most dissapointing game of this year that I've played was Killzone 2. The graphics were amazing, and don't get me wrong it was fun, but I didn't see anything special about it.

Batman:Arkham Asylum shocked the hell out of me. just as someone else staed "oh, another batman game" and turns out to be the best game all year and same with borderlands, it didn't register on my gameradar ( LOL, a pun ) either, then it turns out it was good.

I was disapointed with ODST, i knew it wouldnt be good, but i still think it couldve been done better, and also with Prototype and inFamous. the 2 biggest antagonists go head to head but neither of them did that well. both were a bit repetitive and bland even though GR picked Prototype as the better ( Prototype 9/10, inFamous 7/10) however,i still like all 3 of these games cuz i find them entertaining.

I think ODST was exactly what it set out to be, an expansion. I loved the campaign myself, and Firefight is a blast. My only complaint is that I would have likd to see it sold for a little less.

Killzone 2. There was so much hypage by the PS3 fanboys. The attached rate of the PS3 and Killzone 2 is like 1 game to 10 PS3's. Halo 3 was 1 to 3.

Killzone 2 was supposed to be the most sold game ever on the PS3 which it isn't and it won't.

Batman AA for sure as most surprising. As far as disappointments go, Bionic Commando is the very definition...

Good call on Bionic Commando

@ Turbo, yea Killzone 2 is just meh, but I'm not suprised as Killzone 1 was pretty shyte aswell, luckily for Sony Uncharted 2 has stepped up to act as the big consul pusher, and The Last Guardian could be massive.

Being that I'm a PC fanboy and think all console shooters are an absolute joke, I was really surprised at how much I liked Killzone 2. It was a fantastic game, and I'm dissapointed at the epic amount of hate the internet has for that game. Biggest let down has so far been Borderlands, I just haven't been able to get into it that much, most likely because I can't get a good coop game going.

for me is the Star wars the Clone Commando. I like the game play even it is a typical type of game but still it is fun to play that game. Maybe because I'm an avid fan of Star wars that is why I admired it a lot.. ^^ I don't want to make a comment to worst game for this year yet.. It's hard to assess for now..

According to fanboys.

Without the hype I believe it could have been a much better game, specially with those who had such high expectations.

Back on topic: Demons Souls has to be my surprising GoTY. I had no idea just how fun and addictive it would be. I have literally lost my own soul to this game. :D
