First full trailer for Lincoln: watch now

The first full trailer has arrived for Lincoln , Steven Spielberg’s biopic of the 16th American president, and it's every bit as glossily epic as you might expect.

The new film charts Lincoln’s last few months in office, as he attempts to bring an end to the American Civil War, while fighting the good fight to abolish slavery.

This is the first time we’ve had the opportunity to see Daniel Day-Lewis delivering his lines as Lincoln, and it’s safe to say he carries a fair bit more gravitas than Benjamin Walker. Then again, he’s not fighting vampires either.

Take a look at the new trailer, below...

The new trailer is a fairly talky affair, and it gives us a good opportunity to take a look at some of its grandstanding supporting players, including David Strathairn, Tommy Lee Jones and Jackie Earle Haley. We’re slightly concerned by the over-emotive score, although we suppose that comes with the territory to a certain extent.

Co-starring a galaxy of familiar faces including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sally Field, John Hawkes, Jared Harris and James Spader, Lincoln opens in the UK on 25 January 2013.
