  By collecting all of the lures and prey, Finny will be given a more regal look. This doen't seem to have any other effect other than to change his appearance. To unlock the gold coloration, collect all 100 lures and 106 prey.

  After the Credits to Run, Save when Prompted. You then can load this data (Marked in red on your continue screen) and continue filling out your Prey eaten and Fishing Lure stolen lists.
