Final Fantasy XIII-2's Coliseum is seeing some action with the release of the game's first DLC, the Lightning and Master Sergeant Amodar pack. Besides outfitting the arena with battles that'll win you extra characters for your party, the pack offers Xbox 360 owners an added bonus in the form of an exclusive weapon for heroine Serah.

The Coliseum hosts the first DLC battle, pitting FFXIII-2's heroes against the prequel's Lightning and Master Sergeant Amodar. Once Lightning and Amodar are defeated, their powers are added to those of your party, and the added characters can be used in-game. The $2.99/240 MSP add-on also has an upsell for Xbox 360 players: the Serah's Weapon: Azrael pack, which gives Serah (obviously) a new weapon called Azrael (obviously) that'll boost the holder's chain bonus.

Expect future DLC to offer various side-quests, as well as further Coliseum battles that tantalizingly promise to bring back other characters and creatures from Final Fantasies past. Who's on your wishlist?

I don't know why people are getting so wound up by an XBOX 360 exclusive DLC, I mean it's not like us with a PS3 won't at some point get our own exclusive DLC...

for my coliseum wish list: ultimate weapon from FF7, maybe even ruby weapon, Hell Wurm, from FF12, Attacus the Soulless, and sephiroth in fallen angle form for kicks.

You all realize that this game came out 2 months ago in Japan, right? And that this DLC came out at the same time as in Japan, right? Also, Final Fantasy being exclusive is a joke. FF VII (where I first played it) and VIII were on PC. Also XI was on PC and Xbox 360. Also, the Azrael weapon pack has been available by itself for 80 points before this DLC dropped. Can anybody confirm if it exists on PSN as well for a dollar?

    it's a 360 exclusive sorry.

Either way the DLC is kind of depressing on both ends. To wait 2 months for some extra content into the game get... this? Or to have purchased your game a week ago and already having the people who you gave your money to asking for more is just absurd. They could have added this in with some actual decent DLC that actually adds to the game in the future instead of trying to pass this off.

For people complaining about it no longer being Sony exclusive you do realise that before it was exclusive to Nintendo? Times change morons

For people (DarthPunk) who obviously don't understand that we aren't upset about the game not being console exclusive... You do realize that we said we didn't mind that the game was cross platform, yes? I, for one hate the idea of exclusivity between consoles HENCE why exclusive DLC content deserves some complaining. Just sayin' Learn to read, Moron.

Yes, I will gladly pay more money for a game you released a week ago. I'm simple like that.

What the hell? For years FF games were Sony exclusives but then they decided to make FF XIII cross platform which was surprising but I made my peace with it. Now they are releasing Xbox exclusive DLC!? What has the world come to?

Thankfully whenever FF Versus XIII sees the light of day it will be a PS3 exclusive. I don't consider myself having a bias for any gaming platform but yes the fact that 360 gets exclusive DLC (despite the fact that my copy is for my 360) is rather appalling. I'm already against this DLC as it is, this just makes me dislike it more.

Glad I'm not the only one who found this strange...
  • codyg22 - February 7, 2012 8 p.m.

Well, I officially no longer care about Final Fantasy. The day the the Xbox gets exclusive content over it's PS3 counterpart is the last straw.
  • Cyberninja - February 7, 2012 7:30 p.m.

Honestly this is fine as DLC seeing as it wouldn't make sense in the actually story in any form, so its not like the game isnt already complete
  • KnowYourPokemon - February 7, 2012 8:15 p.m.

My issue with DLC like this is they were obviously working on it before the game came out. Unless they can expect me to believe they did this within the week. That time could have been spent making the actual game better, instead of trying to get people to start spending more money on a game a week after it came out.
  • OohWiiUILookJustLikeBuddyHolly - February 8, 2012 12:02 a.m.

You realise that the game isn't in progress right up until the release date? They would of finished around a month before hand and instead of sitting around waiting for nothing they get to work on the DLC... Same with literally 99% of all DLC that is released around the time the game comes out. there is nothing wrong with that..
  • KnowYourPokemon - February 8, 2012 5:04 a.m.

You mightn't find anything wrong with it but I disagree. If DLC is released a month after a game is released then I can understand, it would actually give them time to add something to the DLC instead of just trying to add a couple characters and call it DLC. Releasing day1/1 week DLC just shows they're trying to milk their buyers. "Hey, we realize you just bought our game so how about spending more money on it?" I guess you're also okay with all of the day 1 DLC for Gotham City Impostors. It's amazing what customers let companies get away with in terms of DLC these days. I still stand by my statement that they could have been spending that time making the game better, working on the Lightning DLC, you know, something that actually adds to the game as a whole. Or at least throw this in with that coming DLC.
  • drunkunicron87 - February 8, 2012 7:38 a.m.

wow you're going to make a big stink over DLC that cost's a dollar and got previewed before the game came out, because Microsoft paid a little more money to get some exclusive content to draw customers to buy their product. This is no different than filling up at the gas station then adding a piece of candy to your bill. SO LET IT GO PEOPLE.
  • KnowYourPokemon - February 8, 2012 2:01 p.m.

It's not about the price (though it's more like $3...). It's more about the principle of it. Under no circumstances should a company be releasing DLC for their game this soon after launch. The gas station analogy is horrible by the way, you're basically saying purchasing 2 completely different products is the same as purchasing something from a store and then a week later being told if you want the full product you have to pay more. So no, I will not let it go because this kind of crap is unacceptable from game companies, the cost is irrelevant.
  • KnowYourPokemon - February 8, 2012 2:04 p.m.

Also, when did I EVER make this about the Xbox exclusive weapon? My copy is for my Xbox and that little extra made exclusively for Xbox makes this even more absurd.
  • Cyberninja - February 8, 2012 2:34 p.m.

you do know that the game has been finished for months now right it was released in Japan in December and the dlc just came out this week in Japan, so its not like its immediately after launch seeing as they had the game done since December so this isn't immediately after launch.
