Final Fantasy 14's Christmas celebration event has begun

The world of Final Fantasy 14 will look a little different if you log in between now and December 31. Square Enix has just kicked off Starlight Celebration 2015 or, as you might call it, Christmas in Eorzea. A new quest starting in Limsa Lominsa will take your adventurer on a journey to spread cheer throughout the realm, earning you holiday-themed items like Santa or reindeer costumes and ornaments for your home.

The whole celebration looks positively adorable, with falling snow, snowmen, reindeer-chocobos, colorful presents, trees trussed up with lights and ornaments, and excited Lalafell. Seriously, tell me Lalafell aren't the cutest. You can get a sneak peek below:

If you look down at my author bio, you'll see I've an unabashed love of MMOs. One major reason I appreciate the genre is that they're living experiences - they change. And nowhere is this change more obvious than holiday events, where the game reflects the real world and gives players something new and fun to do. As for me, I can't wait to stick reindeer antlers on my cat-girl.
