Unarmored car versus an armed ruthless helicopter?! For what it lacks in fairness, Air Strike mode makes up for in missile-dodging fun.
Die Hard with a Vengeance
During one of the greatest movie openings of all time, a New York montage is abruptly interrupted by a street level explosion that sends cars diving into the air like they were kicking off a poolside musical number. Take note of anything lining Split/Second’s environment that looks like it may contain flammable liquids. It usually does.
Live Free or Die Hard
Somehow, taking out a helicopter with a car is actually more believable in Split/Second? So while, it may not be an accurate recreation of the movie, both my inner game nerd and inner movie dork fought to bring this fact to light: The helicopter takedown in the fourth Die Hard film actually apes from final boss battle in the Die Hard with a Vengeance game!
Above: Long dormant controversy!
Bringing the environment down around you means a lot of falling structures, and pulling off a successful one involves timing and practice. Plus, when you’re on the receiving end, just about all of them feature a sweet spot to aim for so you can coast through unharmed. If you somehow remember Burt Reynolds outrunning a collapsing tower in his 1978 serenade to stuntmen, try the above scenario occurring every 30 seconds. No mustache required!
Above: Wrecking balls, dump trucks, cranes, and even planes all have it out for you
Even seemingly dormant construction equipment can turn lethal at 80mph. Kowalski found out the hard way, but you’ve been warned!
