"Did anyone else read this and have Yahtzee's voice in their head."
----------------------------------------------

And I thought I was the only one who did that.

I agree with Yahtzee and the guy complaining about darkness (eye strain is not fun), but not so much the others.

@Thewebslinger

Yes. Yes I did.

I will now return to watching all of the Zero Punctuation videos back to back.

I also did this. After about a line or so, it just started to sound more and more like his rapid-fire, dry delivery style in my head.

The casual gamer dude reminds me of the Casual Gaming rant I did on the forums.

i agree with some of these. Especially the second one tho. I'm also really irritated with the amount of FPS's and well.. the majority of all action games being based about war. I've seen the same game with a different title released 100 times over the past 3 years.

ack, you're all just a bunch of moaners. if you didnt want to play crappy games why did you put yourself in the position that you have to review them.

Definitely agree with Yahtzee about realistic graphics. Let's have more games with blue skies and gaudy colours, I say! :-P

It sounds like most need to find a good middle ground with their opinions. Too strong a stance on too extreme a wing.

Don't agree with the last one or fully with the second one, but everything else is spot on.

Jim Sterling said it all.

I can't believe Yahtzee did a piece for Gamesradar! If you haven't seen his Zero Punctuation videos you NEED to see them. Agree with him or not, you have to admire his sense of humor. And his kick-ass hat.

I didn't, you must have read really fast then haha.

i hate casual gaming. if i buy a game i dont want to play through it and then not even remember what was in the game because it was so simple my brain shut off. i want to think during my games, i want problems and chalenges that will actualy make games fun.

One of My Gaming Pet Hates:

Gamers that fear casual gaming.

Casual gaming isn't going anywhere no matter how many Wiis you steal and set ablaze. Nintendo has found a way to appeal to "stupid". Therefore "stupid" is here to stay.

This next part is in reference to casual gaming = reality TV: Yes. Survivor sucks, so does The Simple Life and American Idol. Reality TV is mass appealing and are a dime a dozen. BUT, that doesn't mean that the "hardcore" breed to TV shows have disappeared! Networks like HBO and Showtime keep the spirit of awesome TV alive with shows like Dexter, Rome, etc.. Just think of HBO and Showtime as Microsoft and Sony... There is still good money to be made from the hardcore crowd. See what I'm saying here? Casual gaming isn't a threat, it's not going to kill hardcore gaming. It's stupid and lame, and may even be an insult to people that seriously play games, but it's isolated. If you don't like reality TV (casual gaming) then don't support it by watching American Idol (playing Wii Fit).

As for Prince of Persia, there are much better franchises out there that aren't very friendly to newcomers, stick to those. Hardcore targetted games aren't going to start attempting to lure in your grandparents into playing Halo with you, so don't get your panties in a bind.

Don't fear casual gaming.. Just ignore it and occasionally make fun of it :D

i mourn the death of the arcade machine.
gone are the days of a quick lunchtime blast on the likes of snow brothers, Raiden, shinobi, double dragon, and that beat em up who's name i forget but the import version had these leather clad blue oyster type gays that instead of hitting you jumped on your back and started humping you. and woe betide if two or three knocked you down.
god what was that game called??

I totally agree with the "too real" idea. Games need to be colourful and lighthearted or it just makes you tense, irritable and jumpy. Games like Mario Galaxy got really good reviews partly because they did just that. Also the deep "realistic" darkness in games really p*sses me off. It definately shouldn't get to the point where it's so dark you can't see where the hell you're meant go, and that it's pot luck whether you advance or not. Gears Of War (a great game though it is) is one of the main culprits. My friend and I were stuck for ten minutes trying to shoot a propane tank that we couldn't see!! I mean, I know it's supposed to be dark because that's where the kryll stay put it just gets to the point of stupidity.
One last thing, isn't it strange that you're all dissing Nintendo for it's casual games and at the same time complaining about real colours being too dingy when the Wii and the DS are the main consoles giving us the bright colours - Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros., Legend of Zelda (not so much Twilight Princess because of the you know, twilight), cut Nintendo some slack guys.

@crazyqazqaz;

Ironically the games you listed at the end of your post aren't casual games. Nintendo has great games but they lost thier way by making annoyingly simple games because most people who bought the wii were non-gaming suckers who just bought it because it has a motion senser. These aren't fans, they're idiots.>:(

I would like to see casual games becoming a gateway to more hardcore games. Then, I could kick some stupid soccer mom's ass at Brawl, and make her never want to play games again.
TheGreatHobbe  - 1 year 1 month ago
is the last guy an idiot? he likes games where you waste your money on it, play it, then you can throw away when your done? if i spend 40-60$ on a game, there is no way it is disposable. just saying.
