Here's hoping they don't decide to add any crappy gimmicks like gunplay, swordplay, beat em up sections, etc.

I WANT to believe that after all the terrible reviews Sonic has got the past ten years that they finally got this one right. I wish more classic running franchises would revert back to 2D. Oh how sexy a new-gen 2D HD Mega Man, Strider, or Doom Troopers would be......

Ignore the 3D games. They are immaterial to this. Consider the 2D games:
Advance 1 - old school as hell and brilliant for it.
Advance 2 - incredibly intricate level design and enormous skill needed to get the chaos emeralds.
Advance 3 - excellent team mechanic and a great tribute to Green Hill Zone.
Rush - slick gameplay, a sidekick easily as good as Tails and Knuckles and the best Special Stage in the history of the franchise.
Rush Adventure - as good as Rush, but with pirates! And an excellent soundtrack too.
Every one of them has garnered great reviews. In short, the 2D games have been excellent so there's no reason why this one shouldn't be either. And if they're really taking the Needlemouse thing to extremes, we may even get a game styled on the original concept art, which looked incredibly cool and would fit in perfectly with a modern retro-styled game.

Nah come on SEGA, where is it?! Where's the "washing the dishes with Amy" side quest, where's the "Sonic and Tails rock band complete with hedge-guitar", there will be something that they aren't telling us to cock the whole thing up.
GR, you are not helping anything by posting this bollocks as you have done numerous articles about the demise of Sonic and how every time everyone gets their hopes up and has them quickly dashed as soon as they actually play the game. Therefore you should know better. I have no expectations at all for this game, bad or good.

If it's being developed in-house by Sega and not by a second party (Dimps) I would have to say that there is no chance this game will be good, becuase they'll insist upon making some stupid gimmick the focus of gameplay. That's what Sonic has become: a stupid gimmick.

Truly, I don't really care if its going to be good or not. I'll probably get it no regardless. I'm a big-time Sonic fan. I was extremely dissapointed with Unleashed though. If it's gonna be like that again, Sonic may finally reach his end...

And yes the logo looks a little bit different. But, since the original logo was in the 90s nad now were almost in 2010, theyve had a chance to upgrade graphics and remove the pixel look. Its the same image except smoothed out

Sega always talk up their games- So a Wii version definatly isn't out down to the HD comment. I recall them saying Sonic Unleashed on Wii was 'Practically HD'. And as we've found out about Sega's sonic-based promises, 'Practically' is often the key word.

Sonic 4!? Another sonic thats actually good? Sega if you deliver ont his , you will be forgiven for that past destruction of your once great sonic! Optimistic for this one, I really hope they dont do something like that stupid werehog thing again, that was just terrible. Come on, another 2d sonic! with innovative game design and level structure longer than the megadrive ones but jsut as good if not better! please sega!
