Anyone remember Sonic Unleashed? Remember how everyone got hyped until we saw the gimmicky Werehog stages? Notice how just claims were made in this teaser without actually showing any gameplay. Stop being so gullible. SEGA doesn't have to make an actual 2D Sonic game as long as you buy everything they shill out.
I'm probbably just being cynical, but the fact that they are calling this "Project Needlemouse", the silloet doesn't look like sonic (to me at least), and that they don't actually say 'sonic' in the trailer worries me. This isn't the first time Sega crushed our hopes ( 2 words: Were Hog )
Pleeeaaaaseeee Sega make us an awesome Sonic game!! Sonic was my childhood game, and I've been sad after I saw the newer games...
I want to see some gameplay footage before making myself any opinion now though...
At first I also thought the logo didn't look like him, but now I do see his silouhette.
What I'd like to see is something more along the lines of New Super Mario Bros. Essentially the same thing as Sonic the Hedgehog's old style, but with some small new thing that doesn't really affect gameplay. Like how NSMB was basically a typical Mario Sidescroller that was similar to his original game (read: no Yoshi), but had some small thing that helped, but wasn't necessary (Mega/Mini Mushrooms). Granted I don't know what that would be for Sonic, but Sega'll think of something. And I'd rather not see it on Wii, because then there would have to be some gimmicky motion controlled thing. And Super Sonic should be like the original game, where you have to get rings in bonus stages and then get rings to transform. And I wouldn't mind seeing Tails, Knuckles or even (gasp) Shadow in it. But that's just my opinion.
I've been waiting for a return to form in the Sonic series for yeeeeeeeears. If Sega makes a Sonic 4, they are almost guaranteed a hit. I'm praying that they don't screw this up. Quit being such a cocktease Sega....
I totally agree with reyalejandro13 on this one. If Sega can make this like a newer/cleaner version of the 2D style games with some new items, then they will have struck gold again! Sega, you should have learned this by now: Don't fix what isn't broken.
By the looks of it i think it could end up like the new super Mario bro's on wii, with new graphics but the old style of game play, the best thing that could happen is hd graphics and a bigger game with more levels than previous sonic 2d games and no voice acting for anyone in the game, its about time sonic grew back his balls instead of being a human kissing pussy.
However the worst that could happen is that they decide to change their minds and try to make a full 3D environment of game with 16 hours of cut-scenes and useless boring transformations like tails turning into a helicopter
I think this is great news, it seems after nearly ruining the entire franchise sega have FINALLY taken on journalist's/fan's feedback and are going back to the drawing board.
They have let us down so many times that I am hesitant to belive this but it is just to good to be true.
I just want a good sonic game, like all of us, but I am gonna ignore all further info on this game until it comes out to not get all hyped up and let down.
I'm not being taken in by this. I'll believe it when it's on shelves and contains no werehog, no human kissing Sonic, no etc. etc. and is just about running from left to right very fast through beautiful levels, sneaky bastard badniks in annoying places, and doing in Robotnik.
I don't trust Sega at all. The trailers and esp the demo for Unleashed were totally misleading and if you knew no better you'd think that the game didn't even have a werehog element let alone that it made up most of the game-and was cack.
Also they won't bring Yakuza 3 or Kenzan out west(despite still supporting their failing Wii games this year!)AND deciding to put the VC sequel on PSP even though it sold better thaan HoTD or Madworld on the Wii.
They've supported some brave things on Wii and turned their back on western gamers in other areas so with such a mix of intent who knows what this Sonic stuff means for real.
Okay, for GamesRadar, devildog18 and everyone else worried about the name 'Project Needlemouse' - DON'T.
In fact the name 'Needlemouse' is even more proof that Sega are trying to get back to Sonic's roots - as before he was given the name 'Sonic', his original concept art simply referred to him as 'Mr Needlemouse'. So Project Needlemouse isn't about a new character, it's just a quirky way of saying This Is A Sonic Game.
There are plenty of other things to be worried about though. Like if Sonic Team's doing it. They've already screwed up one 2D Sonic game (Sonic Rush Adventure) by adding crap adventure sections, the irriting new characters they seem desperate to keep putting in, and forcing you to replay every level many times until all the joy is gone.
Call me cautious. Burn me oncem shame on you, burn me six or more times, shame on me.
