I laughed many times throughout. I grew up in the eighties, and used to think many of these cliched covers were awesome. It was extremely interesting to re-examine these images after all this time. I still have a taste for some of this surreal eighties flavor: the MagMax and Sabotuer II art is good enough for wall space.

I agree Sabotuer's cover was awesome.

I notice that the woman behind the guy on the C64 Renegade cover is none other than Tina Turner!

Thanks for including Skate or Die. That was, like, the most radical skateboard game EVAR (or at least for the NES).

Also, is it just me or is the girl on the box for Vice: Project Doom blind in one eye?

Ninja Scooter - Good
Ninja on Motorcycle - Awesome
Ninja Golf - Automatic Win

Don't hate the Eighties, we all know the world peaked between 83 and 92 and it's all been downhill since.

And yes, Mel Gibson, Arnold S. playing volleyball, and Steve Carell are all in this article.

I was born in '73, so I remember the 80's quite well. These box art pics are great. Brings back a lot of memories. About the only 80's fads I ever got really into were the neon sunglasses and the digital watches with the neon wrist bands and rubber faceplate protectors. I also had a jean jacket, but never cut the sleeves off.

That MagMax box does look like some of the stuff I used to draw when I was a kid :) Robots with lightsabers and metal dragons---you betcha!

Sure, we laugh at the 80's fashions and fads now, but just think what our kids and grandkids will think of some of today's looks. I mean, having your pants pulled down until they are almost ready to fall off? Shoes with wheels in the heels? Ball caps with flat, wide bills and the logo repeated all over them? There's some pretty weird stuff that's popular these days too.

The guy in the Trantor box cover doesn't look anything like a Stormtrooper (neither Nazi nor Star Wars).

I need to find my eyes... But It's somewhat difficult since they melted from the pure 6W350M3N355 that ensued with this article.

That has been one of the best articles I have read in a long while.

Back then I was fooled that the gameplay graphics looked like the ones in the cover art. Stupid me lol.
