Top 10 Square Enix Couples

We count down the twosomes that made love look good

Words: AJ Glasser, GamesRadar US

1) Squall + Rinoa (Final Fantasy VIII, PSone)

Who they are: A graduate student and the "princess" of a resistance faction.

Why they're the best: Squall has all the emotional depth of a fingernail, but Rinoa more than makes up for the lack of conversation with her endless jabbering about freedom, her father and her ex-boyfriend Seifer. And clearly Squall appreciates Rinoa, as he saves her not once, not twice, but three times (even going all the way to outer space to do it). Final Fantasy VIII was the first FF in which the love story drove the plot - which is weird when you consider the main characters never even exchange an "I love you." Despite the game's emotional opening sequence and its strong hints that the love story ends in tears, you can rest assured that FFVIII was Square's valentine to every gamer with a crush. If you still have doubts, just watch the ending:

What they teach us: Love means never having to say you’re sorry… or anything else, really.
