3.  Tidal Wave, Transformers (PS2, 2004)

You'd think Optimus Prime would never have cause for an inferiority complex, being a semi-truck that transforms into a 32-foot robot and all - but the showdown with Tidal Wave in the PS2 Transformers title proves that wrong.

After spending the level trashing Decepticons on an aircraft carrier in the Atlantic, you make it to the bridge in time for the ship itself to bust a robots-in-disguise move and transform into a sun-blottingly massive warrior.

Above: At least you'll never have to complain, “I couldn't see where he was on screen.”

It's the visual highlight of a game full of visual highlights, as you scramble from island to island being pelted with cluster missiles.
