Anyone can hire a handful of bored-looking glamour models to dress up as Wario, but Konami excelled themselves promoting the pneumatic grappling game. Each wrestler had her own themed area, including a mechanical bull for Dixie Clemets the cowgirl, a classroom for Miss Spencer the teacher and arm-wrestling with Reiko. Nurse Anesthesia was, naturally, treating guests in her private ward.

The effect
Lots of breathless, flushed journalists eager to get a copy of Rumble Roses for some review time, and very few stories, because nobody wanted their girlfriends to see them.
