Correct pronunciation: "Ease"
Incorrect pronunciations: "Wise" "Y's" "Yes" "Yis" "Yeez" "Y.S."
The first Ys title was released a full two decades ago. Its many, many follow ups have been played on almost a dozen different systems - everything from the PlayStation 2 to cellular phones to something called an NEC PC-8801 (we don't know either).
So you'd think, after all that time and with all that practice, we'd know by now how to pronounce the game's friggin' name. You'd think any confusion would have been erased the moment the title was actually spoken out loud in the original's intro sequence.
Then again, how can you scold the general audience when the publishers can't even get it right? The title has appeared as Y's (with apostrophe) on everything from official packaging to official disc art. Oops.
