Here's an idea to potentially stop the flow of mainstream media's (Not Just Fox "News" http://www.stopbigmedia.com/) misinformation, libel, spin and slander: Fairness Doctrine.
And please don't say it was unconstitutional because Ronald "Guy Who Raped America While She Was Made Drunk In The 80s" Reagan got rid of it. The Fairness Doctrine makes sure each side gets its chance to tell different sides of the story, potentially killing bad journalism as seen above.

Really great article, way to break from the traditional "Top 7 farts/boobs/etc." model GamesRadar does (not that I don't enjoy those though...)
And it was funny to boot! Can't wait to hear this discussed on TDar.

Oh my God, this guy talking about Counter Strike is such a fucking retard he's like "Oh Yeah this game teaches you how to kill," uhhhh ok buddy that's like saying pac man teaches you to eat little balls and ghosts. That is basically what he is saying.
Darkdraak21  - 8 months 1 day ago
UH oh guys I just thought that if some reporter finds this article and finds yall jokin about shootin up your class and shit they probably will take you seriously and they will be all like "Games Radar is polluting the minds of our children! They are telling them to kill people! OH God why!"

I agree 100% with this article. It really gets my blood boiling when the media assumes that our hobby is for "children". that is completely ridiculous.

@ GrantG: I'm a MUSLIM, dumbshit. I was making fun of the reporters and dumb commenters.

@CwF2008 I'm a murderous nutjob? I will rip off your throat and crap down your neck.

I remember the Mass Effect thing. I had never been so mad

First off I see Thompson's argument. Second a special letter to Jack, fuck off, seriously play the game before you condemn it to a child killing, wife beating, sex craving, homicide causing, anger ridden hell!
P.S. I know this kinda contradicts my point but wouldn't it be a little funny in a sick way if Thompson was killed by someone who never played a video game in their life and hated all video games?

Yeah, I have to agree with Z on this one. Glen Beck and Nancy Grace are both nutcases, and anyone who believes anything on Fox news needs to be lobotomized (since it would make them smarter)

About the whole videogames teach you to kill thing. First off, they dont, they just depict violence, second, most of the weapons in games are either difficult to reload or illegal. Lastly, shooting in a game does not make you a better marksman. Also journalist really need to do research. Going around claiming that Mass Effect is a sex simulator. What got me really mad was that Cooper Laurence said to see what your children are playing you'll need to hover over them constantly. That sounds like a lazy parent who just buys the child a game, and expects the game to be a babysitter. They created the ESRB for a reason. Read the back of the box. If it says nudity, then there is nudity. Partial nudity doesnt mean full frontal nudity, and neither does sexual themes.

One more thing, they say these games are easily accesable to children. Any game that contains violence, nudity, swearing or anything else to excess (Saints Row 2 lol) then it will rated M for Mature. Most states require an adult to buy a game rated M for a child, and if they buy, give it to their child, and then later complain that it is ruiing there morals and behavior, they are just stupid. If parents are going to research games, go to a repectible site, not Fox, Cnn of MSNBC. Gamesradar tells the truth about games, heck there even websites that parents can use to look up child friendly games.

That Dumb blonde with the mass effect story........ wtf
jiveyjosh  - 7 months 29 days ago
i can actually understand a parents cripe with the GTA games... but they have ratings just like anything else which makes it the parents responsibility. there is no way id let my son play that until he was about 16. that said, the spot about mass effect was just absurd and actually infuriated me. these idiots really dont kno what they're talking about yet they could potentially deter the sales of one of the most amazing video games ever.

I was woundering, have any of these idoits ever play the damn game that they are trying to make a mess of.

These bastards won't even make it past the 1st level.

Just sent this to the news station that ran the "Islam is the Light article":

To Whom it May Concern -

Your recent story on the "racist baby doll/video game for DS" brought some attention to your station. As good as this may seem for you - news is a business focused on drawing attention, after all - most of that attention was negative. The general populace may be willing to accept your stories as fact - even when the facts are stretched beyond their breaking point - but gamers tend to be somewhat more sophisticated. We do not like random people who have no idea what they are talking about bashing our favorite pastime. We especially do not like it when it is a bleach blonde reporter who gets paid to use her sex appeal on dumb male audiences. Your recent piece on the Nintendo DS game and its message: "Islam is the light", is as racist and ridiculous as the original story was. It also happens to feature one of the bleach blonde reporters that I previously mentioned. I have two pieces of advice for you: Try to be original in your work (i.e. do not bash video games for influencing violence, run a piece on terrible parenting making children not understand the difference between games and real-life instead) and play the game, talk to the producer and figure out what is actually going on before you decide to run the story. Both of the pieces of advice should help improve your ratings and decrease the likelihood of overzealous mothers boycotting products that do not deserve it in the future.

Thank you for your time,

Brad G... and all lot of other people who are sick of shoddy reporting

You have a very 'straight-to-the point' way of writing and I love it. It's interesting that you've allowed us to take on the perspectives of two ends of the culture spectrum at once, but I do have one question...
What about the news reporters that like video games? O.o
