the only game here that really fits the theme for me is valkyria chronicles, i already own mirror's edge (which i agree everybody should play) and i will be getting LBP before the year is out. the other games i am just.. not interested in.

I definitely see why all of these are on there, which is kinda sad. I really don't think R2 should be on there because it currently kicks Gears' a** since Gears' multiplayer modes are all screwed up and it's campaign (while containing a better story) is definitely not as good gameplay wise.

Also is Tomb Raider Underworld even good? I've heard it is, but I was highly unimpressed with the demo

I'm not interested in any of these games, except Mirror's Edge. I'm getting that for Christmas. But I will have to balance it between Fallout 3 and Gears of War 2.

I think Mirror's edge would have worked better if you were some super assassin or something and had to use these crazy trick to get to the mark (like a 1st person's Assassin's Creed in the future). "Yay, I'm a courier!" didn't work for me. And I mean come on, who in their right mind takes most of the combat out of a 1st person game. I look forward to the sequel.

jrpg's like golden sun = fricken awsome
ww2 strategy jrpg = niche market only

idunno kinda saturated by games
i got farcry2,fable2,fallout3 an recently gta4 i clocked fallout and fable but now im bak to the saintsrow i got with my xbox.
(gta weapon scrolling can kiss my ass, an the crappy lockon oh an lets not forget how rubbish it is to shoot from a car)

Mirror's Edge is the ONE game I want this holiday, easily overshadowing the likes of Gears of War 2 or CoD WaW. Honestly, I find the traditional shooter genre to become a bit tiresome and wholeheartedly welcome such refreshing games as Mirror's Edge.

I'm also sad to see LBP on the list. I've loved every bits of it since I bought it (in pre-order, no less). I'm only hoping they fix a few of the issues with the level editor which have tired me from creating my own levels (that and a much too heavily schedule).

Please, stupid mindless gaming crowd, buy innovation for once! Don't be mindless, dumb zombies all over...

Mirrors Edge will probaby fail because of its super gay esurance reject cutscenes. The limited moves in the game are also a factor.

Nice article and all, but I already have LittleBigPlanet, and the only reason I even had a PS3 (which allowed me to get LBP) is because I saw a game that ACTUALLY IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET UNTIL 2009! Anyone who gets GameInformer knows what I am talking about. A few months back, I was walking into my local Gamestop at the mall to look around and play the demos (as well as buy Assassin's Creed, great game), when I happened to look at the sales counter and noticed the cover for the new GI mag. I will never forget that picture of the destroyed cars and buildings behind a man who has electricity coming out of him. That's right, I BOUGHT A PS3 IN EARLY OCTOBER FOR INFAMOUS, A GAME THAT DOESN'T EVEN COME OUT UNTIL SPRING 2009! Luckily, my family is now watching lots of Blu-ray movies on the thing, but the point is, if you are going to make an article about 2008 games, DON'T CALL THE ARTICLE THE TOP 7 GAMES YOU WON'T GET TO PLAY UNTIL 2009, since there are a lot of better games coming out after New Year's Eve 2008! A better title would have been TOP 7 2008 GAMES YOU WON'T GET BEFORE 2009!

I'm really getting tired of people complaining about how developers "decide" to hold PC games back. I'm sure it takes longer to make a PC game and if it doensn't you get more mission/game play/anything else. Please if you're angry about it contact the developers instead of complaining on a news site.

I seriously doubt POP will sell well either. It's such a shame for LBP and Valkyria Chronicles. Guerilla made a good decision to delay KZ2 till February, it won't have much competition.

i already have Resistance 2 and Endwar. Little Big Planet looks ok but i think its just gonna get boring after a bit. Everything else looks like crap. i played the mirror's edge demo. it was good but i heard it was short and i dont like short games. I perfer Resistance and you might like Endwar. Endwar is fun but the level im at seems like there is no possible way of winning.

I am LOVING LBP and Valkyria Chronicles but all the others (especially Mirror's Edge) are either next year or never.
I'm kinda surprised a few others like Dead Space and Far Cry 2 (both of which I got for hecka cheap black friday!)

I took advantage of my job's check-out policy and "rented" a used Mirror's Edge from work.

I never even cracked the case open. I was too busy playing Left 4 Dead.

I want to play ME and I loved the demo. It's just too busy right now.
