Fallout 3 is an Epic game, but could you imagine going through the wasteland with you best friend at your side? Blasting the hell out of gouls and such! Sounds like a Perfect Game! Should of had it on your list!
I would've loved a co-op (Well, better co-op) GTA IV and Modern Warfare.
Golden Axe: Beastrider also deserved up to three players. If they had developed co-op for Golden Axe though, they probably would've added a new character to the original three.
I'm sure though, that most of the great FPS and/or RPG games in the future will have co-op after seeing this year's load of cooperative games.
Well I agree with everything in this article and I can not wait for COD Modern Warfare 2 simply because its the follow up to my favorite online multiplayer game ever.
However are some of you guys out of your minds. Stop naming RPGs for coop. That is stupid because an RPG is all about the story and that would be ruined by coop.
However the stupidest comment i have seen is that Bioshock needed coop. Are you just a moron. That was the greatest experience on the 360 and all of its elements worked because it was a single player game. It was only you and against the horrors of rapture and the experience was epic.
I agree, unless it's an MMORPG, RPGs should remain single player. Can you imagine? Waiting for someone to go through the story because they don't understand, casting spells that are just totally off and using up all your good items for shit purposes?
Well naturally every zombie game and just the survival horror genre in general needs to be co-op since nearly every freaking zombie movie usually deals with a small band of survivors and not just one person. Heck, I'd love it if they could offer Silent Hill a co-op experience since dealing with bad guys with just a lead pipe or a 9mm pistol is difficult and just plain odd when typically there is another character there that you survive the ordeal with. Heck it would be an excuse to throw in 2 player puzzles for some diversity.
Ever since I played Ikari warriors I've always loved the idea of co-op campaign mode. Heck, even the library level in Halo was made more bearable when played with a friend who liked to use different weapons than yourself.
Awwwww..... Charlie's just sad Gabriel Knight isn't on this list. Just think, Charlie, solving the ridiculous puzzle in that uuuutheeer Top 7 with a friend....
Anyway, this is a great list, but I have to disagree that co-op was needed for Fallout 3. The whole idea is that you're supposed to be a LONE wanderer. No groups EVER take you in. Outcasts, Brotherhood, Vance, hell you're not even given the option of joining the Enclave.
But whatever, that's just my stupid opinion.
End Rant.
Final Fantasy where your friend can control one half of your party during battles.
So much more fun than the other person sitting bored watching you go through the story.
FFIX had this, it was awesome. Kept my friend entertained while he was watching me play.
Fallout 3 would be good as a multiplayer, but would probably be better as a separate game instead.
Either that or a second player could control the henchman.
Oblivion, cus it would be like a much better world of warcraft. (shivering isles owns wrath of the lich king)
GTAIV, instead of hacing the coop GR suggested, it should have a special side campaign I think, for coop. One which involves Roman, Niko, Brucie and Little Jacob taking on various missions (that string toegether with a plot..). 4-player madness.
