I was a little worried of Shenmue at 3.....until I saw what was at 1 <3
Goddamnit yes, I completely agree with this list...even grudgingly for Sonic Adventure 2 for the fact Shadow is the only Sonic character to have any DEPTH.
I still play on my Dreamcast on ocassion. Great list but where is Daytona? Skies was awesome and I recently played through the whole game again (even managing to locate the "DLC" for it on line to get the whole experience). Soul Calibur is still my all time favourite game and I loved Jet Grind (Set in the UK) Radio so much I even imported the Soundtrack from Japan.
My only protest about this list...NFL 2K2. While it might have been executed incredibly well, it is just another iteration of a franchise that had been further refined. There were a lot of original games on the DC that perhaps would have been more worthy of attention.
YES, PSO IS MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME, ahem, I've put at least 400 hours into the different versions combined, and I only ever got to half the max level
I had really good times on my dreamcast.... I loved Jet Set Radio! The game was so fun and fresh and the soundtrack for that game was by far one of the best I've ever experienced thru countless hrs of hardcore gaming! Marvel vs. Capcom 2 should've of been #1. Where is ZOMBIES REVENGE? That game was incredibly fun and creepy. Power Stone should've been up here not Phantasy Star! The best game I've ever played was THE PUNISHER in the arcades at circus circus and FREEDOM FIGHTERS for XBOX! Please someone at UBISOFT, RAVEN, KONAMI, CAPCOM, TEAM NINJA, TECMO, I.D SOFTWARE and etc. MAKE A FREEDOM FIGHTERS 2 FOR THE NEW GEN CONSOLES!
**** YEAH! PROJECT JUSTICE=Best game ever, and since Capcom hasn't remade or remastered it (but remade everything else) they are at risk of gradually becoming my most hated company.
It's a shame Sega was not rewarded for trying so many new things with the Dreamcast. Ironically, we all love it now, but at the time it didn't go so well.
MDK2 was one of the games we considered - as were Typing of the Dead, Power Stone 2, Space Channel 5, Quake III Arena, Grandia II and a bunch of others. The DC had a ton of incredible games, but in the end this is a Top 7 list and we had to cut it down to just the strongest.
God I loved Skies of Arcadia. Great story, world with a believable culture and history, totally bearable JRPG cliches. It's because of that game that my DC sits in a corner, gathering dust, instead of in a pawn shop, gathering dust. It's the reason I keep telling myself that one day I'll hook it up to play through, one more time.
