The Preemptive 2008 Game Awards

Why wait a whole year to give out a pile of, let's face it, mostly meaningless awards?

Words: Tyler Wilde, GamesRadar US

Most popular with middle aged women

Winner: Wii Fit
news | previews | screens | videos

The Wii is supposed to be all things to all people, which certainly includes those in need of a little cardio. It really isn’t a surprise that Nintendo would expand their motion sensing console to include a fitness program, especially after all of the “I lost 20 lbs. in two weeks by playing Wii Sports!” stories that were so prevalent after the Wii launch.

And who is Wii Fit’s target audience? Women, of course, so kids, get ready to be kicked off the Mario for some hip fitness lessons from Nintendo. And watch out, Mom may try to entice you into doing some actual physical activity. Resist at all costs.

Runner up: Peggle Nights

That’s right PopCrack heads, PopCap is developing a sequel to the extremely addictive casual game Peggle. Why the word “nights” is in the title we have no idea, but we do know that those timidly dipping their toes into gaming’s waters should have no problem jumping straight in to this kiddy pool (which we are secretly excited about, crap, scratch “secretly”).
