I had a feeling that the new Batman game would stray from the comics. But at least the creators are coming up with something semi-original, right? And besides, I think being able to be the predator/detective that is Batman, in a really great game mind you, is reason enough to let the lack of canon slide a bit. You can definitely tell there is rip-offs from the Dark Knight movie, but it also makes Batman seem a little bit more realistic. At least to me, anyway. But this is all my opinion on this.
arkham asylum isn't based off the current dick grayson/damian wayne team. it is based off Arkham asylum:a serious house on a serious earth by grant morrison. a man who would go on to kill batman, and the DC universes quality control. and confuse us all.
Why are there so many different versions of teams, like the Avengers? Can't they all just think of their own names, instead of making lame copies of other groups' names?

I would play a beat 'em up based on Blackest Night, the current DC event. Blackest Night is basically: Black Lantern rings are given to dead people (Mostly superheroes), making them intelligent zombies. Fighting zombie superheroes would be so awesome.
Wow great article Henry! As a fellow comic book person I really enjoyed your accurate description of the Omega Sanction and yes it is easily confusable with the Omega Effect (i thought it was omega beams but that shows my lack of knowledge) Hope you get to talk about this on the next TDar so you and Brett can go off about the comic world while Chris screams to end his boredom! LoL!
*yawn* how boring. dont you think this article is a bit redundant? i mean, you know how long it takes for a game to be developed. how can they possibly stay up to date with canon if comics are being released during development? this is like me coming back to this article in a few years time and saying "hey, you forgot about this game or that game". i could have sworn i heard an interview that said Batman:AA had taken influence from the comics and not the films.
Im confussed. So is Bruce Wayne dead? Here in England the newspapers said Wayne dies fighting his father who faked his death is now a crime kingpin. Or something like that.
Well that gets even more complicated. Directly before the events of Final Crisis was Batman RIP, wherein a guy who may have been the devil, but was only posing as Thomas Wayne, was out to totally destroy Bats. He failed, but he cursed Batman's cape and cowl, saying the next time he wears it would be his last. And his very next case was the murder of New God Orion, which led to his capture by and eventual Omega Sanctioning by Darkseid.
Hope that cleared it up.

Hmm, I'm not sure Batman: AA is that close to the Morrison classic. Admittedly it's been a few years since I read it, but I know for one thing Joker is barely in it, aside from a cameo where he slaps Bats' ass (really).
And to be clear, I can't wait to get my hands on the game. It looks like DC comics might at last have a great video game for the first time ever.
@ burnttoshreds
Yeah that would be cool, but I think the Sinestro Corps story would be even better for a game. So many villains = multiple boss fights, plus drop-in/drop-out four-player co-op featuring Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner, and John Stewart along with Hal as player one.
Sadly though, I bet the first Lantern game will be the one based on the upcoming Ryan Reynolds film. Sigh...
Here is this big bad boss, The Leader, standing near the edge of a cliff, standing there doing absolutly NOTHING just waiting for you to uppercut his ass off the cliff and that's it.
No defense, no resistance, no balls.
No villian worth its salt would just stand there and get his ass kicked like THE LEADER did (that's even more of an insult that you are called "THE LEADER" of all people).
Show me a page where this kind of BS ever happened. This kind of crap will never happen in the comics, ever.
