The Force is overrated: FACT!

Oh yes it is! 9 reasons why the Jedi superpower is a right Yoda rubbish!

Words: Stephen Pierce, GamesRadar US

Why when Obi-Wan is riding his Boga why does he get no sense of precognition that he’s about to be shot by the clones and their big gun?

Why on the Federation Battleship at the start of The Phantom Menace can’t Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Force push the Droid Dakars away. Why is it a stalemate yet again?

Why do none of the Jedi’s around the galaxy manage to sense that they are about to get whacked when Order 66 kicks off?

Why do none of them managed to fight their way out of the Order 66 situation if they are that badass?

Why does Palpatine manage to carve up so many top-ranking Jedi’s when they come to arrest him? They look like they’d had no training in sword-fighting at all.

Why was it impossible for me to think up a better strapline than ‘A right Yoda rubbish’ when I know for a fact that numerous games magazines have used it countless times before?

So what have we learned? Yes Star Wars: The Force Unleashed looks good and you can read all our blab about it here. Yes I’ve taken some liberties with the canon/non-canon thing by chucking in Supershadow’s extremely unofficial list. Yes I know most of those characters appear only in the books and comics and are not entirely relevant to a discussion of The Force as depicted in the six movies. Yes I deliberately stayed away from The Clone Wars movies as the cartoon depiction of The Force is again out of whack with what we see in the films proper. And you know what, I don’t care. The fundamental truth is that The Force, as depicted in the live action movies, is more often than not inconstant, a bit weak and apparently only of use in getting dimboid Stormtroopers to look elsewhere for droids, and impressing furry dwarves by making Threepio float around in his chair like a big gay golden god. Han was right all along.

LOL Nice. I got one, When Obi-Wan force pushes Greivous up into that balcony in the last video, would it really be that hard just to throw the path of his vehicle off a little bit so it falls off the walkway?

so true, and with all those giant vehicles and machines you'd think they could just use the force to cut some wires and break everything

You see, it not force that over rated, but Jedi.

Translation: the Jedi could blow up planets, but none of them are mentally strong enough. So you would need a super Jedi or God with Jedi powers to do it. Or an autistic person, as TV has shown us in the Eureka series, a Sci-Fi channel original.

Oh, and your forgetting that there is some strategy in what they do. Yoda takes his fine time to lift the column to make Count Dooku underestimate him. Ben goes emo cuz Luke shows up, and Ben can only truly help if he leaves his physical body.

you may have a point with a few things. but you also have to remember that when yoda had trouble lifting the xwing, he was also very old and weakened. and had been out of touch with The Force for some time so as to not be felt through it by vader. and when you consider that there are only a fair few that have the ability to use and focus The Force, that greatly decreases the extent to which an individual can accomplish with The Force alone.

Of course if the used The Force to do all that stuff the plot of the movies would be pretty boring, it would just be on big movie of explosions. (Maybe that would be better)

"Why when Obi-Wan is riding his Boga why does he get no sense of precognition that he’s about to be shot by the clones and their big gun?" Well... basically one fact that you didn't see is that the Sith used the Force to cloud the Jedi's mind so that they can't see what is about to happen to them. In other words... they couldn't see the future because of the Sith.

The beginning question was one of the questions that was asked on one of the pages.

Everything could be 'rationalised' by saying that the force is not a tool that can be used at will. It is a presence. If a jedi can forcepush something, it is because the force is set at the moment to allow it.
A jedi would feel he could forcemind, like he could(n't?) feel he can't forcewhatever.
The force would be a matter of situation, not will to use it.

LOL This was a great list. I'm a life long Star Wars geek but even I laugh at it sometimes. Although you lost serious points for quoting ANYthing from Supershadow....

Did anyone notice how, after Obi-Wan gives up an dies, he just sorta disintegrates into a pile of robes? WTF...
