I'll pick up dark sector. $10 isn't a bad price, so I'll give it a shot.
I try my best to support good games on the wii and DS though.
I bought chinatown wars for the DS, Okami for the wii, Resident evil 4 for the wii, etc.
I haven't gotten around to house of the dead overkill, or Deadly creatures, but with a perfectly fine PS3, and 360 sitting within reaching distance of my wii, its hard to choose the system I play the least over the two other console behemoths.
I was looking into trying dark sector out, then you guys gave it a seven and said DONT BUY, RENT! And so I never got around to it. BUT, I did try the Darkness and it is still one of my favorite games of all time, so depressing at the end
ahhhh the ending of the darkness put a tear to my eye, and now that i think about it the darkness is probably one of my most favorite games along with condemned1 and 2 more so 1 than 2 because 2 had too much gunplay and way more awkward level design in my opinion
If I remember correctly, you guys posted a video of how irritating the commentators were on Mad World. If there's an option to turn them off, then I'd consider it. But if there's not, I'd consider it a game with amazing potential that fucked it up trying to be too repetitively vulgar. I don't care about the violence, I just don't want to hear that irritating shit on a rather consistent basis. And if I mute it, I get to miss all of that 'excellent soundtrack and punchy sound affects' that you and IGN boast about.
I picked up Death Jr: Root of Evil for the Wii, played about 2 hours so far and its pretty fun, I would say it was overlooked, I never saw any type of advertisement for it, just walked into my local funcoland and saw it new for 14.99. Just picked up Broken Sword for the DS too, didn't hear much hype on that game either. Good Article BTW, I think I have some used game shopping to do now.
Am I the only person who thinks that Canvas Curse honestly sucked? Maybe I was still too young to give it a fair chance, but from what I can remember, it was terrible. I had more fun Kirby and the Amazing Mirror for GBA even.
>You guys can't give middling reviews to these games and >then wonder why they're overlooked.
Oh no! Pandora's Box! Close it quick! If it stays open too long, a horde of game reviewers will descend upon you to explain in no shortage of words that reviews need to be considered with care - they represent the opinion of the reviewer, and they're _meant_ to be very critical. If you just look at the score, you might assume that the only games worth playing are games with an 8 and up. But scores are imprecise! They're just numbers we assign to give readers a quick idea of how important we feel a game is. A 6 or 7 means we had a good time. And most of the time it does matter what kind of game you like. Some people like wandering around searching for ammo, and others think it's tedious and dull. So read the review and think about whether or not the game seems like something you'd like. And definitely don't assume that we decide which games sell and which don't - if we really did, everyone would have a copy of Okami.
At least, that's what would happen. Good thing it hasn't!
I still can't believe GTA: China Town Wars didn't sell that well. it is extremely addicting and it many ways, it goes way passed expectations considering its on the DS. anyone who owns a DS and is a gamer should definitely play this game. I have also played Spider-man: web of shadows. its actually a decent game especially if you are a spider-man fan.
I'm not gonna say I look at a number and assume anything below a 7 is a bad grade without reading the words. But, in my opinion, the number shouldn't even matter. I'll read a movie review for instance and at the end there won't be a number, star, thumb, foot, lazy eye'd donkey rating to the movie itself. The writer gives his opinion and you get your own idea of the title and assume your own grade based on it.
There are times where I'll be lazy and blow through the number, but if you take some of these reviews, remove the number, and expand on the pros/cons summary on the bottom, you might get a whole different outlook on a title as a whole.
1. I'm so glad that The World Ends With You isn't on this list. That game deserves sales.
2. Still fucking pissed off at Sega for trying to make good games on the Wii, but can't make A FUCKING GOOD SONIC GAME ON ANYTHING! FUCK OFF, SONIC TEAM!
3."Plus, when gamers are endlessly discussing how “overlooked” you are, you’re not really that overlooked anymore, are you?"
"Your only excuse for not picking it up today is that you’re waiting for the PS3 version."
No, my only excuse is that it's too fucking expensive. I'm not willing to pay $1 for every hour of enjoyment I get out of it (and that's assuming I enjoy all 50-60 hours, which hasn't been the case with any Tales since Symphonia). If that makes me a cheapskate, then so be it.
The only games there that seem worth an iota of my time are Valkyria Chronicles (which I can't find in any shops, and is sold out on the internet) and Tales of Vesperia WHICH STILL HASN'T BEEN RELEASED IN BRITAIN. (also, I am going to wait for the PS3 version, so I'm guessing I'll never play it ever)
