Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix - 2008

What a name! SSFIITHDR is a yet-to-be-released XBL remake of Super SF II Turbo with, you guessed it, high definition sprites. The new sprites are being drawn by UDON, creator of many a Street Fighter comic. They are directly referencing the original sprites, but adding a great deal of detail in the process of scaling them up. How long do you think it takes to create all of these HD animations at 60 frames per second? We're guessing a long, long time.

Street Fighter IV - 2008

Street Fighter IV, which takes place after Street Fighter II and before Street Fighter III, is the first true sequel (er, prequel) to the Street Fighter series since SF III in 1998. Ken and Ryu are back.

The sparring buddies take completely new forms in IV, and the fans in our office are divided - do they look good or bad? Those who've played the game say that stills don't do it justice - you've got to see it in motion. It has also been pointed out that the dynamic facial expressions are great - those blows look painful. Peep our collection of screens, as well as a video of the unfinished arcade version, below.

First???
The arcade version of this is amazing, i've gotten the chance to play it
at an arcade in china town and my friends grandpa owns it so i got free tokens and played it forever. SF never seems to end its reign of ass kicking.

Not that anyone will really care too much, but, just to keep this retrospective a bit more clear, Ken Masters was never an actor, he is a world famous martial arts tournament champion in america (multiple times over even) and his father is the third richest man in the world (in the SF world anyway).
