Has to be Super Metroid... one of the rare cases of playing for so long that I fell asleep in the chair with controller in hand, only to wake up the next morning to go at it again. Other than that, we used to have some pretty massive Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter "tourney" after parties at my house. Each person with their own favorite character and moves etc. Other than that, I think the last true "geek out" was 9/9/99 with the Dreamcast launch. Never again will we see only us "geeks" lined up to pick up consoles on release day. Too many soccer moms and auction resellers have spoiled the bunch... ahh the 90's and gaming--- I am geeking out again.
When my friend asked me what my favourite game was, I went on a rant explaining every single intricate detail about Final Fantasy 7, which took most of the day. I only stopped because he shoved me into a bush and threatened legal action. Then, when it came out on psn, I mentioned it and he just stared at me.
back to mgs4...I bought the game on day 1, and was playing the game until atleast 3:00am but i just had to beat ocelot in the final fight, even though the stress made me go gray overnight and my eyes bleed.
the metal gear solid series. i had never played one before and then i saw it at blockbuster and i was like "hey cool mustache" and id heard nothing but good things so i got it. for the next few weeks all i did was play mgs4 and drink coke zero. sleep was neither nesessairy or possible because of the coke. now im not an emotional man, but some parts of that game brought a little tear to my eye (and i hadnt even played the other games). once i beat it i had to beat it again and again and again...............and again. and now im on a quest for all things mgs. i still need mgs1 and the metal gear games. plus any other merchandise i can get my hands on. i almost wet my pants when i saw that another mgs game is coming out and i saw that picture of raiden. holy crap im nerdy, its a wonder i have a girlfriend
One time my brother and I were at our cousin's house and it was 2 AM. We were bored and started cycling through super smash bros. brawl music and started doing these wired dances/acting out wierd stuff. Especiaaly with the metal gear music, we were jumping over stuff and rolling around on the ground trying to act sneaky and like assassins, pretending to shoot stuff. After we were done we kind of just looked at each other and never mentionted it ever again to anyone.Im just think wow were teenagers and we just did this . Im not even sure why we started (sleep deprevation? we weren't on drugs or anything) it just kind of happened. this is the first time im ever mentioned this to anyone. The scary part is i still think it was funny as hell.:-) also i feel really nerdy when talking about pokemon and a little nerdy whenever im playing any game really.
out of everything, I'd have to say after I beat Final Fantasy 10. I LITERALLY geeked out over Final Fantasy 10 in the last 20 hours of the plot. I beat it, then cried at the ending (like, a LOT). Then I jumped back in and got the best weapons for each character (except Wakka, screw blitzball). For the next month after that, all I could think of was FF10, and it was all I'd talk about with my friends. I downloaded some of the songs on iTunes, too. I just wish they didn't give you the option of changing Tidus' name so they could've used it in the voice acting. When I get my PS2 back from my brother, I think I'll play through it again.
i am a pc gamer, and thus must often deal with the failure that is a game not working on your computer, even if i meet the spec requirements and sometimes pass them. God damn Age of Conan was a 60 dollar game which decided that my computer was nnot worthy to play its awesome fury, so i went blind into gamer-rage and kicked a hole into the bass of my pearl drum set
before it came out I was always looking it up and reading about it everywhere and I was so excited for it to come out. I got mad one time because I saw the "display only" case at gamestop and it was in a green case so I thought it was coming out for 360. I didnt have a PS3, so I couldnt buy it but I was still talking about getting it and daydreaming playing it and always watching videos about it on Youtube. The game looked so fun I wanted it soooo badd. I was always talkiing about this game I didnt have. I still dont have a PS3, just a 360 but I always say "If I got a PS3, LBP would be the first game I get". Im ashamed for how imature I get for this game.
I have to say the game I geeked out the most would have to be Halo 2. I was like 10 at the time so explosions/shiny things attracted me (even more than now) so Halo 2 got me. Then I beat the game such a kick to the balls with that cliffhanger.
X-Men. especially Wolverine. i used to buy the x-men games(even the lousiest ones), buy the comics, figurines, the cartoon DVDs. I was so into x-men that i even wrote stories of me being part of the x-men. But that was when i was smaller, now i think they are okay. but i do like the X-Men Origins:Wolverine video game and movie.
Definately either Kingdom Hearts of Half-life. For a school assignment I was required to make a sword (fake sword). I made a friggin keyblade out of foamboard, and on my sheild put the half-lie symbol. People were like, "Your sword looks like a key you idiot." What fools. Oh and I bug my brother so frequently about not started HL2EP2 that whenever I ask, "Hey guess what you should do?" he immediately answers, "I don't have time to play that right now." Half of the time I'm not refering ot HL2EP2.
There is a game called The Labyrinth of Time. I own two copies, have spoken to its entire development staff, have framed (and autographed) artwork by its art director, wrote the game's Wikipedia article, researched the stock music company its soundtrack came from and re-recorded it, arranged sheet music from those recordings, recreated areas from the game in Half-Life 2, own a T-shirt I won for winning the game's only ever art contest (possibly be being the sole entrant), and hold a seemingly-permanent $50 store credit with the company now that now holds its rights in the event that they ever make a sequel.
The Labyrinth of Time is a Myst knockoff that came out in 1993. I've wasted my life.
Probably kingdom hearts 2,
I was like NOOOOOOOOOO when Axel died!
I even used the extremly crappy keyblade he gives you but then i realised it totally sucks!
Oh! And at the end of windwaker i wud not shut up about the king of red lions dyinq!
I was so excited for Sonic Unleashed. I pre-ordered it 2 months before it came out and when I finally got it, and after playing the first few Sonic stages I ran around the house yelling "SONIC'S BACK!", but then I played as the Werehog and it turned out Sonic wasen't back.
