The first game I ever bought on my own was pokemon silver got it when I was six. I worked my butt off for the game and it was worth it. While all the stupid kids in my class made lemonade stands. I used a wheelchair we had stashed in our went door to door saying I need money for charity to help "handy capped people like me" in two days I was owning Lugia ass with Pikachu!

The Eyetoy. It cost $100, and seeing I was about 11 at the time, $100 seemed quite literally a truckload of money. But I raked all my birthday money, job money, and pocket money together, and I bought that little camera and the "Eyetoy Play" game that came with it. And it was totally worth that truckload of money.

For 5 minutes :( I quickly realised the thing I hold sold my soul for wasn't all that great at being fun for even a small length of time, even at the age of 11. And I still have problems trusting 1st party periphals to this very day.

First game I can remember buying on my own would have to be Okami... I think. I usually have to consult my parents though I just usually feel really unsure before a purchase. Still not out of school.

And I'm really reaaaaally sorry, but I bought it after Clover failed. Still, a great game and one I am glad to have

Ratchet And Clank for thePS2 i loved the guns and gadgets. And the fact that you played as a weird alien rat thing with a little robot as your side kick. I also loved that gun that shot out those tiny mini robots. IT..,WAS...AWESOME

Sonic Jam on Sega Saturn, which I bought with my first money from my Saturday job at W H Smith at 15 years old. I can still remember it sitting on the shelf in Pink Planet Games Exchange with the 'New' sticker on it and how I exclaimed really loudly 'Oh my god it's only £32.99!' because new Saturn games were about £50 usually. My dad told me to shush cos they might realise they'd made a mistake. Wow, was that really 12 years ago? Happy days :)

Sonic the Hedgehog and Golden Axe for my Genesis, I was so proud of myself, even though it was money my mom gave me for cleaning my room 2 or 3 times I felt like I was doing something heroic.

Driller, for the Spectrum 48k.

A whole, actual, living, breathing, moving, 3D world crammed into 48k of memory! It was this game made me realise 3D was the way forward!!!

For once, the hype lived up to it's name and it blew me away - well worth the £8.99 full price!

Heh Alone in the Dark for the Wii it was an 18 for all the other consoles but it was only one of those white 16+ for the Wii so at 12 years old I bought a pretty violent game :D

Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers on the NES. I remember that I started getting a $1 allowance when I was 7 or 8. I saved a dollar a week until I had enough. Proudly I walked into Toy's R Us and bought it.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. At Building 19 for like $14.99. Purely because the cover looked cool. From that point on I joined the ranks of LOK fanboys. Shows I had great taste even when I was 13.

Bases Loaded II Second Season for the NES. I remember getting it with the birthday money i got from my grandpa. The soundstrack was vintage NES sports and can't be forgotten, just like grandpa. RIP.

Silent Hill for the PS1. I was just a kid at the time, and I'd heard good things about it, though I knew nothing of what kinda game it was.

I didn't sleep for a week and was probably emotionally scarred forever. Clearly the game shop clerk was very irresponsible.

The first game I purchased all by myself was Mega Man 6 for the NES. My parents let me take $50 of my First Communion money and buy a video game with it. I barely remember much else about that game, but after that, all of my video games and accessories were gifts until I purchased a Nintendo Gamecube in 2001. The best part about that, to me was, it was the first system I didn't have to share with my family as I did with the NES and N64. And my mom who worked overnights at Toys 'R' Us at the time, brought it home before the store opened.

My first was Contra for the NES. I had to save months of allowance and lunch money, but it was so worth it. I also remember the only place that had it in stock was Montgomery Ward and they had a weird little game annex room. I feel old.

mmmmmm... Vagrant Story. I remember I had to clean my niece's diapers for 2 weeks for my sister to give me the money I needed for the game. I'm not proud of that, but I loved the game

It was suprisingly good fun, but a bit shallow

Mind you, it only cost £8
