My very first time preordering a game was just last year. i was hyped up for Guitar Hero on tour for nintendo DS. it cost 50 bucks to preorder it, and i thought i would be worth it, but boy, was i wrong!
that game sucks so much ass it's not funny. the day i got it i had already beaten easy through hard mode (with difficulty due to the terrible design to hold it). not only was it short, but it bored the hell out of me...
that was the last time i've ever preordered something...
a good 50 down the drain.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I'd played every single one of the games previously in the series - explored each and every cartridge looking for each and every heart piece - so I KNEW Ocarina was going to be a gem. Still one of my all time favorites - even have it on my GC!

the first game i pre-ordered was FF8. i had officially played the balls right off of FF7 (300+ hours) and i figured if 8 was even half as good i needed it in my life with no time wasted. even though i only went through 8 once (100% complete though) i still loved it and ended up also pre-ordering 9 and chrono cross and ff10 later. I also bought an FF9 shirt from the squaresoft store that ended up being an XXL (which didnt really work out very well for me at 120lb in 8th grade). i tried to wear it anyway with shirts under it because i liked it so much but i think i only got about 2 wears out of it before i decided it was just too damn ridiculous.

The first game I pre-ordered was Assassin's Creed. Not only I bought the game, I bought xbox 360 for this game. I have the original xbox before that, and Assassin's Creed is THE motivation I need to upgrade to Next Gen. The game preview looks absolutely incredible, the eagle flying, Altair moves through the crowd, jumping in the mid-air and killed the guy...And the fact stealth games are my favorite (Sam Fisher Rocks!) So I was there, pre-ordering, and on the release day, I brought home the game and the 360.

And.......5 missions into the game, I finally figure out this game is basically one mission repeat 9 times in different difficulty. It's the same thing over and over and over again. After furiously beating up 2 annoying beggers, lost a Sync bar, I was totally disappointed, drop the game and turn to Mass Effect. And 2 and half years later, when Assassin's Creed II is about to release, I pick it up again, finally worked pass my grudge against beggers and drunks, and finish the game. It's actually pretty good, I mean...If you can over look the repetitive missions and annoying drunks on the dock and Altair can't swim...The game is very well designed, the city is full of life, the story is great (if you have the pacient to look into the details), Altair is the coolest assassin, and it is still one of the best looking game out there.

So I guess it's not that bad, and I've already pre-order Assassin's Creed II, like...6 months before its release date.

NO PRE-ORDERING! PRE-ORDER REBELS YO!

That said, I did almost pre-order Sonic Heroes because it would get me a demo of the game right then and there.
Shut up. I still thought Sonic games might be any good.

Maybe it's a British thing that they always seem to be in stock.

i actually have not been pre-ordering for a long time, so it would have to be modern warfare

The first game I can remember pre-ordering must have been the Halo 3 Limited Edition (The normal limited one, not the one with the stupid helmet. I was smart to realize that it wasn't big enough to be put on one's head.)

And no, that doesn't mean that I'm a 12-year old insult-cannon. I just managed to get along for all those years without ever pre-ordering. But since I was actually pretty hyped for Halo 3 (No clue why, I didn't care for either of the first two, but really liked the third.), I chose to just pre-order it...

i can't help but say that the MGS and the Startropics one weren't obvious in any way because you had an in-game cd case and millions of people got stuck on this
and who the hell is going to think of the one for startropics?

First game I pre ordered was Luminous Arc 2. I thought the first game was great, and when I heard that Luminous Arc 2 came with an artbook with pre order it, I pre-ordered it. I only pre order games when they come with bonuses like that.
