The first game I preordered was Fable II, the second game was RE5, there have been none since then, and I didn't really need to preorder those games anyway either bacause I live in a small area and every EB games around (about 5, all within a 20 minute drive) completely overstock on games.
First game I ever pre-ordered was GTA IV. I've done a few since then, but generally my Gamestop has stockpiles of new releases so you can walk in anytime and they'll still have the game if you didn't pre-order.
Hmmm mustve been Halo 2. I remember being servely dissapointed due to the hype, people were saying it would have EVERYTHING such as:
Vehicles like boats, jets and helicopters as well as driving the Pelican and Longswords
Space battles
Fights on actual locations on earth
A huge number of new Covenant
No Flood at all
The ability to pick up various items to use as weapons like crates, trees etc
Massive boss fights like a huge army vs Chief
Martial arts and combos from melee attacks Picking up Jackals shields
Super Strength (chuck a warthog at the covenant)
Using the second gun on the Wraith
Bots on multiplayer and playing as other covenant members like hunters
Gore
Chiefs face
More Spartans
So yeah ever since then I've never let my expections of a game get too high that I get as dissapointed from it. Damn I was gullible. Although Halo 2 has grown on me quite a bit since then.

This has been running in the forums for months, and this is the first time we've promoted it on the main site. Now you all have a chance to have your answers on the site, not just the forums.
The first game I can remember pre-ordering is Pokemon Gold for the Game Boy. Not only did I pre-order that in all my 12-year-old excitement, I even skipped out on school to pick it up.
First game I ever pre-ordered? Well that would be GTA IV. My first one since none of the other stores which you could buy videogame near I lived allowed you to pre-order. I remember being told of a special edition for €10 more. So yeah, I bought it and got a lockbox I would open with a blunt pencil, a tiny duffel bag, a *sigh* art book, a Rockstar keychain and a CD with some of the worst songs from the game on it.
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I skipped classes for two days straight only stopping to eat and sleep. I remember proudly displaying the gold N64 case in the middle of my dorm room shelf for all to see.
I usually never preorder, I just walk in the day it comes out and buy a copy at a best buy or my local independant gamestore. The first one I did preorder was one Halo 3 Legendary edition, and I payed it all off before launch and got my cat helm. I regret nothing and my cat still wears the helmet with pride to this very day.
the first game i ever pre ordered was spore. yeah wasnt really into pre ordering before that then my second one would be freaking. hold on i dont even remember the name of the game it was so bad... ummmm it has been three minutes now, i think i have to look it up ahhha. ok it was . omg i really cant even find it now hold on. o fing TOO HUMAN. worst waste of time and money ever. :( now ill be preordering ModernWarfare2
I remember I preordered Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal. I got a free disk of demos for doing so. I played hell out of the demos. It turns out one of the demos (Vietiful Joe 2) had an error in it. The error was it corrupted all my save data in my memory card. I had over 30 games in there! WHAT THE F**K!!! I think I cried that day. Rachet and Clank was awsome though.
I never really pre-ordered any games until Steam came along. I would often pester Best Buy employees to go to the loading dock on the day a new game would come out which was always an adventure. The first game I ever preordered was Orange Box to get in on the TF2 beta. All 3 games were brilliant and I still play TF2 for more than an hour every night?
The game I first pre-ordered was Pokemon Colisuem for the Gamecube. The only reason I pre-ordered it was to get my hands on the free Jirachi on the pre-order disk for my Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire. I didn't even want Coliseum and I didn't even pick it up when it was released.
Lost Planet was the first game I pre-ordered. I had to call in several favors to get a ride to Best Buy to pick it up, but it was most certainly worth it.
The first game I can remember pre-ordering was Pokemon Emerald (yes I'm a sucker for anything Pokemon). I remember I had beaten Ruby version about a year ago and I was looking for a new challenge (Battle Frontier... awesome!). So I had my mom drive me down to Toys-R-Us (I was only 13 at the time... I think)and asked pre-ordered the game. I remember it came with a tin Requaza case (I still own it to this day), a guide to the Battle Frontier and a membership card to the Pokemon Emerald Forums(the only time I ever got to use a signature on any Nintendo Forums). It was a great game, though now I mostly just use it to exploit the cloning glitch at the Battle Tower. Cloning legendaries and trading them over WiFi on Platnium version FTW! :P
the first gme i ever pre-orderd was halo 3. kuz i got all m games from walmart nd other stores like that after they went on clearence. but i was addicted to halo 2. i must have played delta halo 500 times... then i played the mission when ur on earth 1 trillion times. and i saw a commercial for halo 3. and i knew i had to go to game stop. so me n my friend loaded up and ventured to game stop. we each orderd a limited edition copy. and when september came around i never got it. i found out that i had shipped it to my moms house and she just had it sitting in her closet for a month.
