My recent favourite console is the PS3(games, music, videos, FREE ONLINE), but one that I'll is the very first Playstation not only cuz it was my very first console but also cuz it was the very bridge between 2D and 3D gaming. It also put an end to the Nintendo/Sega childish rivalry, and brought gamers to the light. Sorta like a gaming Renaissance. Plus I'm a full-fledged PS fanboy. The only difference is that I admit it.
Playstation 2. My console for a long time and through my uni days. Many happy memories. But...
I remember when it first came out and I couldn't afford it. And I didn't have a job then either. Then much later when I heard about them being cheap at a local supermarket I bugged my parents about getting one, perhaps ready for Christmas (which I think was a couple of months away: I was a sneaky bastard). They did end up getting one and when I found out I was asking to use it early (so ashamed...).
Of course, when I finally got it at Christmas they hadn't got me any games so I was borrowing an old WWF/WWE one and GT3. And I didn't have a memory card either. Oh happy days...
Mine is the DS hands down. That's because lately there's been a swarm of great RPG games on the DS. My PS2 is still nice, but the last fantastic game that came out for the PS2 was Persona 4 and that was in January. I still play it a lot, but the fact that only a few games come out for it now, the PS2 is the runner up. My least favorite console is the Wii. My Wii (which my parents bought for the Wii sports they never play) is busy collecting dust waiting for Muramasa: the Demon Blade to actually come out so I will actually play the stupid thing again.
NES!!! Who doesn't miss those days of that plumber on mushrooms running around castles, or the loin-cloth filled adventures of Castlevania? WHO I ASK!?
Sega Mega Drive/Genesis so many memories of playing so many side scrollers...I play it to this day and still love it, even if I always had the more obscure titles such as Zero Tolerance (DOOM rip off) and Dynamite Heady
so many memories
I'm gonna have to say the Playstation. A lot of memories for me come from that console. The first time I was good at a fighting game (Tekken), my first ever RPG (Final Fantasy VII), my dad sitting down to play all of the Tomb Raider series, my favourite ever RPG (Breath of Fire III), the first game to ever scare me (Resident Evil), the first game to give me *ahem* a negative influence (Galerians in the form of turning me into a paranoid bloodshot dickweed which had me banned from playing it until I was 18) and my most hated RPG (Final Fantasy VIII).
I remember working my fat, nerd buttocks off mowing lawns and shoveling driveways to get my greasy hands on a PS2. MAny years later, and I still have fond memories of following all-star series' like Metal Gear Solid, Ratchet and Clank, the Jak games, Devil May Cry, Tekken, Silent Hill, and many more.
I have so many fond memories of my trips to the rental store and seeing 6 or so rows of PS2 games lined up on shelves, each one calling to me. It was heaven as a child, especially considering I had no tastes back then and enjoyed prettymuch anything I rented.
luigi's mansion, star wars rogue leader to name a couple.
it has the greatest collective of games on any console:
skies of arcadia (dc original i know)
luigis mansion
mario series (kart, sunshine, sports titles)
star wars
donkey kong
starfox
zelda WW & TP
chibi robo
f zero
and so many more.
no other console has had so many different models/versions to collect as well.
spice/pearl/3 different silver models/black/purple/panasonic Q + all the other Japanese exclusive models.
My favorite console will always be my Super Nintendo. Seriously, I got to play Mario RPG on it. I thought that game was the coolest thing ever. Additionally, madden 94 was pretty rad. I got it for a birthday. Kind of a lame reason, but I still got it. oh.....and don't forget
KILLER INSTINCT, bitches.
Hands down the SNES. one day when i was about eight years old my dad showed up with this gray hunk of plastic. i thought to myself "hmm what is this strange and magical new contraption". he brought it inside and then he hooked it up to the TV and i was all like "WWWWWOOOOOOOO a toy for the TV!" i was like the N64 kid on steroids that day. the very first game that i played was mega man x. whenever i pull out my SNES i almost tear up from the memories
My all-time favourite console is Nintendo's GameCube. In my opinion, Nintendo's very best games were released during the GameCube years. Of my top ten favourite games, four of them were made for the GameCube (PC and the Nintendo 64 come in tied at second with a measly two each). Metroid Prime, which is in my view the best game ever made, came out on the system. As for the console's hardware: it's irrelevant to me. I just loved the amount of fantastic first-party games.
Hrm. This is a bit hard. But I'll say the N64 because that thing made up a rather large portion of my childhood ^^; Besides Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time, I remember playing hours and hours of Paper Mario, Kirby, Pokemon Snap (I absolutely loved that game, but sadly my copy got misplaced at my babysitter's house =( It makes me sad), getting my mom hooked on Yoshi's Story, and endless rounds in Pokemon Puzzle League (actually that last one still happens whenever I'm at my parents' house for the holidays). And happily, my family's N64 is still working perfectly~
The Xbox simply because of the system link parties. It was the first system that got people on a craze to go to each other's houses, hook up xbox's and play all night long... And do you think the internet gaming on consoles would be what it is without the xbox starting it. And on top of that, they were like, what if we put a hard drive in a console.... Genius..... Got to love Xbox.
