I'm at a choie between Kingdom Hearts or Okami. Love starting a new game, just so I can find all the hidden objects in the games. Kingdom Hearts, have and done everything but the platinum match (impossible). In Okami, I only have one more stray bead left to find to have 100% of objects found.
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow on ds. I love castlevania (although I still cringe every time I hear the name. Its set in a castle in transylvania, and they called it castlevania? Who came up with that?)
I keep going back to Animal Crossing: Wild World after several months of neglecting my brightly coloured little town. I always expect to be attacked by a small group of rabid survivors, but it hasn't happened yet.
Populous: The Beginning. This game was my first RTS and made me think I was a fan of the genera. Turns out I'm not... at all. No RTS IMO has the pure simplicity yet deep strategy of Populous: The Beginning.
I first played Populous as a demo I got on Sim City 3000 and wound up playing the demo FAR more than Sim City. I finally found the game on a shelf at Babbages (back when games came in those huge boxes) and bought it right away.
No game (with the possible exception of Prince of Persia 1989) has ever held my attention for so long. Each mission can be beaten is SO many different ways and VERY few of the levels have time limits (which I hate with a passion). The end result is I can pour in 4 or 5 hours on a single level while playing "god" and just toying with the enemy.
beyond good and evil, such a powerful and birlliant game, and guitar hero III, that thing is so additive, i was heartily dissapointed with guitar hero:world tour on wii, such a big let down for me. But i was stoked when i heard about beyond good and evil two, it better be good, they said they're doing all they couldn't do in the first one so i have high hopes!
Texas Hold 'em. No game around beats the enjoyment derived from putting everything on the table. I currently live in a cardboard box under an overpass with my dog, but I digress. When life has got you down, you can always try betting to get a new one. It's a fun game.
Rainbow Six Vegas 2! no matter how many 'supposedly' top class shooters they bring out absolutely nothing compares to the cover system in this game, you need true skill to play it and team leader is by far the best online mode ever.
Mine's Rainbow Six Vegas 2. sorry but that cover-blindfire-rappel stuff is too cool. slight shame that the voice control didn't work, but that's why god created the X button.
I remember when i got it, the first thing i tried to do was turn the terrorists tactics against them by sticking c4 to my team-mates backs and sending them towards said terrorists. of course, ubi hadn't planned for that and the damn explosives just fell on the floor, but it was worth a try.
There seems to be a few for me. Here's my personal top 5:
1. Guitar Hero WT: It's like playing/singing my favorite CD over and over.
2. GTA: This one's HUGE! There's always more to discover, and it's nostalgic of when I lived in SoCal.
3. Half-Life 2: What can I say that's not already been said? One of the best of all time.
4. Tomb Raider 3: I don't care what anyone says; this was my favorite (of the original TR series).
5. Dark Cloud 2: This one's got a lot of extras too, and I'm still trying to beat it!
Mike Tyson's Punch Out still gets quite a bit of play from me. It is still so challenging that it remains fun. I also play Contra quite a bit for the same reason (also Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Select.) I even occasionally go back to the original Donkey Kong. I love games from all generations of consoles, but I still have a soft spot for the 8-bit games of my childhood.
