the better question is how many bands u are sick of because of music games...ACDC, Metallica, Guns n' Roses, Kansas, Nirvana, Pearl Jam and so many more...i will always like these bands but i am really tired of kids who go around saying they like theses bands and then can only name the songs that are on GH and Rockband
reCAP:Drummer rumely(did u guys go that on purpose)
people can have their own opinion and watever but dragonforce is absolutely terrible..all that it is is people playing the guitar as fast as possible..its not about lyrics or anything else just playing fast
THUG 2 really got me on Johnny Cash(only on when ur in New Orleans)..Ring of Fire, Walk the Line, Cry Cry Cry, Folson Prison Blues...Cash along with Elvis while sounding more Countryish are the founders of Rock n' Roll and are the reasons that these games exist at all
My Chemical Romance is definitely the band music games got me into. When I played Dead! I sat down and thought, "That song kicked @$$!" and ever since I've been listening to them. Hell, I'm listening to them right now!
I used to hate Molly Hatchet and Lynard Skynard, but since playing their songs on RB/GH I have a much keener appreciation for their awesomeness. Of the songs I bought on iTunes specifically because I heard them on RB/GH, these are the ones that really stand out for me: Pyschobilly Freakout by the Reverend Horton Heat, Cavemen Rejoice by the Bags and Blood Doll by Anarchy Club.
I picked up a copy of GTA Vice City at my local used cds and bitchin' merch store, and I started listening to their VRock station. Since then I started listening to TOO much hair metal and Judas Priest and other 80s shznizzle. Hell, I even went and watched the new Friday the 13th, thinking I could get some sort of 80s nostaligia. I ended up getting nostalgia for the movie store, where I should have got Evil Dead. Oh well.
Though I believe that music games generally slaughter the music, it did introduce me to Muse, so I'm good with that. And Thomashalpennny, there is no rap on music games because rap is not music.
sources indicate that stricken is not a band. stricken is a name of a song by Disturbed, and down with the sickness is another song written by Disturbed, which happens to be a band i would have never known if not for guitar hero 3 since my search for that song ended with a bunch of other songs they made.
I've found that ever since I play the first Guitar Hero game, throughout all the various metal tracks that have been in these games (because metal is what I listen to) there have been very few occasions where I'm not already familiar with a band in some form.
No doubt there are some people out there who had their first exposure to At The Gates via "Blinded by Fear" as part of Rock Band's Earache Thrash Pack. Me? I looked at that and said "Oh hell YES!" Now we just need the rest of the album that that track is from.
Guitar Hero: Word Tour definitely made me appreciate Tool. Schism, Parabola, and Vicarious are all in the game. I have so much respect for Tool, now that I understand how talented each of the bandmembers are. Long live awesome drum and bass solos!
Anyway, music games have only reinforced my love of bands like Iron Maiden, Mettalica and Guns n Roses. I now like Rage against the machine slightly now, but only slightly. Also, why have'nt they actually made Guitar Hero: Iron Maiden? I would of thought it would of been a main choice for the Guitar Hero crew to develop (better than Guitar Hero: Van Helsing).
some handsome devil, senses fail, and trogdor the burninator (best podcast ever, trogdor wuuuuz a man, he wuuz a dragon man, no wait he was just a dragon)
before i got guitar hero 3, i didn't know the names of any bands at all. so i geuss i owe guitar hero the fact that i know anything at all about music.
