1. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
2. Bioshock
3. Pokemon Gold/Silver
4. Portal
5. World of Warcraft
I've probably sunk more time into Diamond than I did into Gold and Silver, but they still stand out as the best in my mind. Although honestly, I've definitely put more into WoW than the rest of these. Portal is just flipping fantastic and Bioshock was one of the most interesting and complex games I've ever experienced. And I don't think I really need to comment on OoT.
1) Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I've played it several times through. I still say quotes from the opening scene with Richter and Dracula.
2) Contra: Hard Corps. When I have 30 minutes to kill sometimes I'll rush to the extra ending that's on the third stage. Nothing like being a Monkey King, even as a diminutive robot named Brownie.
3) Secret of Monkey Island. Replaying now!
4) Fallout 3. I used up a week of paid vacation for my second run. Considering a third run when PS3 gets DLC...
5) Mega Man 2. I originally got it after Mega Man 3. But 2 wins based on you fight a dragon! Plus I like the music better. Dr. Wiley's Castle Stage 1 for the win!
1. Indiana Jones: Fate of Atlantis (PC)
I also enjoy the monkey island games, but its Indy that i always come back to. This was also one of the only C-N-P adventures that i didn't use a hint sheet or walkthrough for
2. Gangsters (PC)
To be clear, this is the Hothouse Creations game. This is the first game i played where i played all night and was surprised to see the sun. i've played all night before this, but always knew what time it was. After playing, i was a little roughed up, but i felt protected.
3. Professor Layton and the Curious Villiage (DS)
This 1 game saved my DS for me. Probably my mind as well. Stuck alone in Korea with only Dr. Layton to console me (get it, console, cuz its a game...)
4. Thief (PC)
I enjoyed Thief 2 more as far as the game goes, but I used the SDK editor more with the original so i have a stronger connection with the one that first stole my heart and time.
5. Deus Ex
Deus Ex is probably my favorite game, but because i didn't flip out on the mythos behind the game, i put it at the end. i recently reinstalled it and am playing The Nameless Mod for it, and that really opened my eyes that there's a lot going on that i didn't know about. This game also got me started in on researching conspiracy theories, i bought books and watched shows, particularly if it has "Illuminati" in the title (BTW, novel by the same name is pretty good). I think the game was financed by the struggling conspiracy industry to revitalize interest and pump money into their pockets so that they could re-elect G.W.B!
Gamesradar you evil gits, making us choose just five....
I love games that combine a strong story and world with fun gameplay and currently own a ps2 and ps3 (so havnt played mass effect).
5:Final Fantasy 10 - the way tidus and auron just fade away at the end honestly nearly made me cry. I have replayed this one many times.
4:Metal Gear Solid - Got really pissed off when my PS2 refused to load disc 2
3:Bioshock - did anyone see that twist coming?
2:Fallout 3 - fantastic, believable world and a great story. Bethesda, please hurry up and release those expansion packs for ps3.
1:Half Life 2 (+ episodes 1&2)- do i really need to justify this? Please shed some light on how episode 3 is coming along valve...
others that could have easioly made the cut include resi 4, god of war and the onimusha series
My favourite games are:
1- Half-Life
2- RockBand
3- Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
4- Metroid Prime
5- GTA IV (only played it for 2 hours, and loved it)
1. the whole Jak series. i cant list any one in particular without feeling like i've let the others down. it had such a brilliant character progression, from shy child, to brooding teen to responsible man. plus J and D was one of my first proper games.
2. half life 2 + episodes - master crafted, and never boring. i shouldnt have to explain.
3. Chrono trigger - im late to the whole snes thing, but for a year or so before playing i'd started to hate modern jrpg's. seeing how they were in their hayday turned me round entirely, this in particular, with its pretty sprites, great attack system and working causality.
4. Oblivion. the open endedness was great enough on the 360, but when i got it on pc it opened up a whole world of possibilities, there are mods that well surpass bethesda's programing efforts in my opinion.
5. both far cry games - the only thing that lets this series down in my opinion are the console ports. for some reason the brilliant openendedness of play that the series is based on doesnt translate, both instincts and fc2 epicly fail at working for game pads. wich is a shame, as i have friends who stay the hell away from pc gaming.
1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time -- the reason I bought an N64 and almost failed the 8th grade. That and algebra.
2. Resident Evil 2
3. Silent Hill 2
4. Mario Kart 64
5. Super Mario RPG--instead of just finally buying the game, I'd rent it weekend after weekend.
Honourable mentions to Resident Evil 5 (92 hours for a platinum trophy), GTA: San Andreas, Super Mario Kart, Super Castlevania 4, Saints Row 2 and Super Mario Bros 3
1: Resident evil 5: AKA: Return of the Zombie (and Chris)
2. Castlevania SotN: Running around Dracula's castle UPSIDE-DOWN is awesome
3. Street Fighter 4: Seth... I hate you for ruining my life and my hair
4. Soul Calibur 4: Yoda vs. Ivy?
5. Metroid Prime Hunters: I hate invisible snipers...
5. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong Quest
For the simple reason being it was the first game I ever played/beat at the age of three.
4. Legend of Zelda: Windwaker
I was drawn in by the charming graphics and it was the first Zelda I ever beat.
3. Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando
I beat it five times, got 100% and still enjoy playing it.
2. No More Heroes
The art style, the gameplay, the fact that IT TRIED AND SUCCEEDED on the Wii makes it my second favourite game of all time. Never has a game made me anticipate a sequel more than NMH, with the exception of my #1.
1. Shadow of the Colossus
I hate fanboys of all types but I'm certain that my hypocrisy will be excused when I say SotC is the greatest game EVARZ! My enthusiasm is basically through the roof whenever I see a mention of it on any gaming article throughout the interwebs. I'm always known to shout "MOAR SotC" and my calls were somewhat answered at E3 '09. That's right, Last Guardian. No I haven't played Ico, which makes me somewhat ashamed but I'll be damned if it isn't as awesome as it's sucessor. That being said, Agro is my favourite video game character of all time.
5. CoD4. I looove the main story, and the multiplayer is awesome.
4. Kingdom Hearts. In my opinion, it was better than number 2. Number 2 was a bit ridiculous.
3. Pokemon Diamond. I spent forever playing that game. I have about 400 hours stored onto that chip.
2. The World Ends With You. I love using two characters in combat, and the music is cool, too.
1. Okami. Beautiful, original, fun game. And Gamesradar has been praising it since it came out. Need I say more?
