Punch trees in half with Crysis!

Six reasons why Crytek has delivered the best demo ever

Words: Ben Richardson, GamesRadar UK

Crytek has delivered on total destruction

Amazingly, Crytek's promise of fully-destructible foliage that will crunch and splinter under heavy fire, before tumbling to the ground, is actually fulfilled. And it works brilliantly. It's possible to punch a tree in half, for God's sake! In fact, it's even possible to shoot a tree in half, blast the stump in half again, and then pick up the chunk that falls off and kill someone with it. Our dreams have been realised.

The only limit to fun is your imagination

It's a cliche of open-world games, but Crysis really delivers on 'player choice'. Mainly, that's because most of the choices you can make are incredible fun to live out. It hardly matters that you die - that just means you get another go at causing utter mayhem. For instance, we took on this little base in four ways, altering our vehicle-based attack for each one. At the last, we even tried setting our truck on fire before driving it into battle. But that didn't really go to plan...
