The normal cadre of game journalists and PR reps were nowhere to be seen. This event was strictly for friends, family, and assorted technorati. The main room hosted a Halo 3 tournament, in which 60 4-person teams fragged each other to pieces in the hours running up to the official retail launch. My team made it easily into the second round (I scored a ludicrous 12 melee kills on the n00bs), then hit a brick wall as a handful of over-achieving tweens flexed their mad chops. Is it any wonder that Guy Kawasaki's kids are Halo prodigies?
