Marvel vs. DC: the games

Which superhero game is right for you? Marvel Ultimate Alliance or Justice League Heroes? Look no further

Words: Raymond Padilla, GamesRadar US

Notable omission

Whenever you're dealing with large groups of people - super or otherwise - someone gets snubbed. It's hard to keep tabs on everyone, let alone metahumans that are patrolling the universe or staving off galactic threats. Let's see what biggies didn't get invites to the big dance.

Justice League Heroes: It's bad enough that all three Green Lanterns play exactly the same way in this game, but it's downright cruel that Guy Gardner wasn't included in the mix. Love him or hate him, Guy is the most unique and human GL out there. His macho and sexist ways would've added some fantastic humor to the game. Speaking of humor, it's sad that there aren't proper representatives from the slapstick Justice League International era. Guy was a big part of this too, but having Blue Beetle and Booster Gold would've been classic. Bwahahahahaha!!! Note: That's the laughter used in JLI.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance: It's more than a bit surprising that The Sentry was left off the roster. He's a big part of The New Avengers and had a hot limited series. Not only is he Marvel's equivalent to Superman in terms of raw power, he does the big blue Boy Scout one better by having a bipolar disorder. See, that's just cool - "the power of one million exploding suns" in the hands of a mentally unbalanced man.

The Winner: Well, in this case it's the loser. Marvel's roster is so big that it pretty much touched everything a fan could want. Justice League ignores one of its most popular eras (with some of its staunchest fans) by not including anyone from the JLI days. Guy Gardner would have addressed that issue and added the man's man (the guy's Guy?) of Green Lanterns.
