howetzer u cannot speak for the 1 million muslims in this country. and i know the composer was amuslim but that does not mean anything. btw howetzer the life of brian a comedy movie was bannd do you not rmmba????
Ha! funny. But Why is it that they have to be so angry at us now so seriously? Anger just makes them look like douches. If people aren't doing this to be an ass then, who cares?
Jesus gets drawn and made fun of all the time and we just say, "Oh... Whatever." And if it's funny, we laugh. why cant they.
And i watched him preorder that at EB last week!
Rizzler, look I am not trying to get into it with you man, I am just saying this, and if you can PLEASE answer my question:
Why do the feelings of your "1 million Muslims in this country" count for more to a privately owned company than the other 300+ Million people in this country? Why can't the 1 million muslims just NOT BUY the game if they are offended?
I know that's two questions but I'd still love the answers.
The reality is is that this is a country built on the fact that everyone has rights, and they are all supposed to be equal to one another....I would argue that it's why many of the million muslims came here in the first place. So again, why do their feelings count for more than mine or the other 300 million people who don't care if there are lyrics from any religious text in a song?
The other thing that bothers me here, and smileykyley was touching on it too is that:
Even IF there was something offensive to us in the game, we would simply be expected to not buy it or deal with it. Because that is how this country always has, and always should work...the market tells us what is acceptable and what is not, NOT some people's religion. And if a company puts something out that most people find offensive, the people will voice their feelings by NOT purchasing said product and forcing the company to re-look at the situatuion so they can still make money, or even perhaps failing that company out of existence.
This isn't a Theocracy, it is a Democracy. Though the 1 million Muslims in America may find it offensive to have this song in the game, the 20 million or so Athiests (such as myself) find it offensive when religious people are specially catered towards, especially when it interferes with freedom of speech, and in a Democracy, shouldn't the opinion of the far larger Athiest group count more?
Or is it just another ploy for Sony to whip up some more hype about this game?
This little delay won't make the people who had it pre-ordered cancel it, yet it acts as more ammo for the hype machine that Sony seem to have taken very fondly to these last few months.
I am REALY ticked of because in aus we have to wait till nov 7 befor is is released, all this would have never hapend is there wasent a public demo I thin they should leave it in and if your muslim turn the sound of so now every one hase to wait more time ive bein waiting for this game since GDC 07 :(
im a muslim and im sorry gr team but i think its a right move to take it out.
its not becos that im am offended, i just think it's a bad idea to use the Qur'an words as music lyrics. Becos it was not meant to be a music lyrics, it was a HOLY book send by god. And the Qur'an is like a book we refer to when we in deep trouble or in need of guidance.
So yes, some muslims will find it offensive cos the Qur'an words are not meant to as use as entartainment
this gets pulled off the shelves for making people angry that have have the same religion as those of terrorists? but gta 4 doesn't get taken off the shelves? makes completely perfect sense. whats wrong with that picture?!?!?!
I just wanna know.how come they couldn't have sold the game, and then make it so you have to update the game before you play it, and in the update cut that song out? they had to waste an additional like 5 to 6 days doing all this. i say that they give the people that pre-ordered like 10 dollars of the game or something. bcuz thats bull**** that i preordered it for that day and didnt get it. or anything else besides a fat useless "SORRY!"
I'm Muslim and I am not offended by this, and if my parents heard it they'd probably recognize it and go hey thats from the Qur'an and would probably be happy that a Muslim song was in a game i played
thats bull shit im not offended poeple at sony just dont wana get sued becasue no cares we just sue so we get money lol even if did come out i wouldent sue
