nice strategies man but alot of online players need 2 follow the basic strategy also. how hard is it 2 understand simple logic :STICK TOGETHER STAY ALIVE!!!
I think the new cool down for melee attacks was a good idea. It might be too easy to exploit room corners by huddling together and having 1 or 2 people just pushing the zombies back.
Awesome guide, totally made me aware of that the roof isnt the place to be. Tried this course first time last night with 3 pals, surprising enough we made over 4 minutes on the roof. But got knocked down over and over.. will try the livingroom tonite :)7 minutes to silver seems abit unrealistic tho :S what is gold award? 10?? 12?
My personal favorite is you all go onto the final level of the light house with craploads of gas cans etc. and use the moat of fire approach, whenever your getting overwhelmed you throw a gas can onto that railed in area and light it. just stay together so you can imediately stop smokers/hunters
"By firing off a series of shotgun shells at a Smoker or a Hunter’s tongue, you may end up doing more harm than good by nicking your teammate instead"
This isn't right, when someone is tongue-tied you can shoot through them at the smoker. Shove them if they're right next to you, shoot through them if they're far away.
I was able to 5:47 with a group last night on the rooftop. We were successful because we set everything up on the roof below and we constantly moved around the rooftop making it difficult for Smokers to nab us. I didn't find Hunter's to be a problem at all up there. The first couple of tanks didn't pose a threat either as we would climb up to the top of the tower, shoot him, when climbed up, we'd drop down, shoot him and repeat the process until they died. Unfortunately, the 3rd tank surprised us during a horde rush and took one swing knocing us all off of the roof at the same time, ending the round....
Pretty good article although there's one point where you're startlingly wrong. In many situations you no longer want to melee Hunters before shooting them. Since their pounce knocks everyone away in a ridiculous radius your best bet is to shoot them from a distance instead of closing in again. When someone is pounced, or smokered, they're invulnerable to all friendly fire except explosives or fire. So shoot away BUT stop shooting once you've killed the Hunter or Smoker. This is especially true since Hunters have a great ability to actually hit you while they're being meleed.
So unless you can close in, hit the Hunter off the victim before he takes too much damage and then shoot the Hunter dead VERY fast shooting is actually a GOOD idea.
I like to just start as soon as possible with absolutly no planning what so ever and the just run around like an idiot blasting any zombie in your way. It doesnt work but its fun.
lol...allotta funny comment, even tho me a left 4 dead veteran, i have downloaded the new content,i have yet to play, and having a timer takes the noob stategy of camping out of the cATGORY BUT I HAVE BEAT THE GAME EVEN IN THE WORST CONDITIONS!...I HAVE NO IDEA WAT I JUS SAID
I don't count the creatures from 28 Days Later (spoilers) as zombies as they can die without taking head trauma (I don't think real zombies "die" even then, they just can't function), like they did in the end of the movie. I don't think that the movie(s technically, thought the sequel was meh at best) does either, because it says their infected "with rage". I am very uptight when it comes to the definition of "zombies". BTW, for zombie fans, I recommend the book "Dying to Live; Life Sentence" by Kim Paffenroth. It is an excellent book and it will make you question what you thought you knew about zombies.
