It seems that the new DS is only good if you have a Wii, seeing as all those add ons haves to do with the Wii. I'll stick with my DS lite/360 combo, but thanks anyways Nintendo.
Also, I hate Punchout! Thought it was the worst game I ever played. I think I see a handful of flame coming at me.
Quit yer moanin'. Matt Casamassina (AKA Podcast Jesus) did an interview with Cammie Dunaway today, and she confirmed that EWW's Pikmin and Pikmin 2 weren't the Pikmin game Miyamoto was talking about. So relax, we're still getting a new Pikmin game. EWW probably means we'll just get a preview as to how Pikmin 3 will control.
Hehe, you know what would be funny in a totally ironic and sad sort of way? If they released the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess as an EWW product.
drprofessor is right, the Wii control would be VERY welcome with the first two Metroid Primes.
But, I still think it's a bit of BS that there's all these first party ports to the Wii, because that's been my biggest complaint with the Wii catalog; how the third parties are treating the Wii by porting over crap PS2/PSP games.
@ Ravenborn
Yes, that's true. There are a bunch of crappy ports on zeii.
But we already know these games are friggin awesome, and it's Nintendo. Look what they did with Twilight Princess with just a few months. Say What you will about Twilight Princess, it still played better than the Gamecube version. Now just imagine Metroid Prime with Wii Controls after we've had Medal of Honor Heroes 2 for a few months. Can you say best FPS ever? My point is, Nintendo isn't just going to port over their games. They're going to put some actual thought into it. Everyone needs to stop worrying! EWW will be a very good thing. (Especially for people like me, who didn't have the money to do anything more than rent the best Cube games.)
So for those of us who aren't interested in buying new versions of things we already own...I guess we're screwed.
The new Fire Emblem is good news though. I'm glad to see it moving back to hand held after the bloody awful Radiant Dawn. (Although really, it's problems were not because of it's platform). Still, I think it has always been a series better suited to the hand held system.
like i said from escapist, What I'm looking forward to is Nintendo actually trying to create something as good as their old IPs rather than focusing on improving (psha right) their system. When's the last time you see a good Nintendo game that is not a sequal? Oh, Project Hammer has such a potential to be successful as a new IP. On the bright side, I'm looking forward to the release of MadWorld, and maybe this game will be as good as or maybe even better than No More Heroes.
Me imitating Just about everyone else on this news story:
"Ugh! Nintendo sucks. They totally are ignoring me, even though they've got about 15 games that I'm going to buy coming out soon. They suck! Now I'm gonna go play with my Pokemahnz."
Seriously, shut the f+++ up, everyone. We're getting Punch Out, a game nearly as many people have been wanting as Kid Icarus, Sin and Punishment 2(Holy s+++!), Wii Sports Resort, The Conduit- an exclusive "first-party shooter" (wink, wink), Madworld, Fire Emblem, Henry Hatsworth, and others I can't remember right now. Plus, We've got a concrete answer to the storage solution(it may not be great, but at least it's something.) Plus DSi, which, admit it, you really really want, and we're getting the OPTIONAL Enjoy With Wii games. (I emphasize optional because you DON'T HAVE TO FREAKING BUY THEM IF YOU DON'T WANT THEM, no one's making you buy them) EWW gives people who didn't get the chance to play the best Cube games, or those who want an enhanced version of their favorites, a chance to experience a superior game (yes, they're ports, but they're ports made by Nintendo).
Sorry I got a little side tracked. Anyways, whenever Nintendo does something awesome for its hard core fans (We've already got a Mario, Zelda, Smash Bros, and Metroid game) they inexplicably forget about it 12 seconds after and go bat-s+++ crazy when they go more than a few days without a hard core game shoved in front of them. (For example, over at IGN when Super Mario RPG came out people wasted no time asking for Earthbound AND Starfox on the same update, and they were SURPRISED that it didn't happen.) I hate the Nintendo fan boys.
Gawd you all make me sick.
i read somewhere else that the new DS wont have the GBA slot, and if thats true wouldnt games like guitar hero on tour not work on the new fancy schmancy "refresh"?
You know...I think I'm okay with these, for the most part.
New DS? I'm in. Storage is fine by me, and if they want to add a handheld version of the Virtual Console to the DS, I'm TOTALLY okay with that. I never really used the GBA slot as it was, so losing it is no great loss to me.
"Enjoy With Wii" is okay by me too, because in my case, I pretty much glossed over the Gamecube and missed out on some good games. As long as they don't try and charge me the full $50 for last-generation games, I'm okay with spending a few extra bucks to get a brand new copy.
I really really hate the Wii and nintendo period i dont wana use a stick or motion controllers to play a game i WANT a kick ass controller and a keybord and id likke good games not like omg theres a AWSOME wii game, wow it only took 30 games b4 that one for a good one to come out and now its time for the process to start all over again.
And people complained about Microsoft only in it for the money?
Nintendo have now brought "gaming to the masses" with their wii. But it seems like they have now remained focussed on this target market because they are now the majority.
They have released yet another DS, thats their 3rd version in how many years? Obviously another attempt to cash in on the casual gamers market.
I know this is a business and you need to try and make the most money as fast as you can, but does anyone else think that they have stopped caring about the people who have followed them for years? In between the casual games Nintendo throw us out a good game.
I just think its not enough anymore. I support all the companies and I am not biased against anyone. I have all 3 consoles and the Wii is the one console I have hardly touched again since I bought it in December 2006. I think I have probably had about 30 hours gaming time (enough to complete Zelda and muck about with wii sports and Red Steel.)
This isnt an anti Nintendo post incase I upset people but I just think they have lost their vision of the past.
No offense, but bad article. While Nintendo are repackaging the GC Pikmin, it has been confirmed in an IGN interview that this is in addition to the sequel they are developing. You should edit this.
"I know this is a business and you need to try and make the most money as fast as you can, but does anyone else think that they have stopped caring about the people who have followed them for years? In between the casual games Nintendo throw us out a good game."
Seriously? Aside from Wii Music, how are any of the shovelware games on the Wii Nintendo's fault? The last time I checked, the majority of the first-party Wii titles were fantastic (Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime, Wario Land). Seriously, how many of these casual games have actually been designed BY NINTENDO? Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Wii Music, Mario Party? Just because all of the third party developers want to go casual doesn't mean Nintendo is the one behind it.
The whole idea behind this post is that...what? Nintendo must be abandoning the hardcore because they're designing a new DS? This has been coming for months now - DS sales have all but stopped in Japan, because everybody already has one. It's not a casual games thing, it's a business thing - period. And it's not like this is new - Nintendo has been constantly updating their handhelds since the original Game Boy (the Game Boy Advance had three models, too - remember?).
Seriously, I don't get these complaints sometimes. Nintendo could probably announce another full Mario title AND a new Zelda game by Christmas and you guys would still complain that they didn't round it out with a new Metroid game.
Finally someone with the ability for cognitive thought.
You're absolutely right about everything you said. DS has stopped selling well in Japan, so they're introducing DSi. That's why we're not getting it for a while, cuz the lite is still s+++ing money.
Plus, we're still getting Pikmin 3, Punch-Out!! Wii, and Sin and Punishment 2. Everyone needs to relax, Nintendo still loves it's hardcore fans.
