Okay, so I haven't played the Halo games so I don't know how likely this would be but how about...
Master Chief is Sgt John Forge's son. Ages seem to fit judging from the comments already posted, perhaps MC was an unborn child when his father died at the end of Halo Wars, father obviously given some sort of medal in his honour, when MC is born he is named after his father in his honour.
Also explains the resemblances in looks. But really, I have no idea how likely any of that could be - something for you halo fans to decide.
What ever. It doesn't really matter who master chief is anyway... but the chief and Forge do have a bit of resemblence. I just hope Bungie stops being a douche and reveal the real master chief.
psh whatever he can't be MC...I know yall said you arent going by whats in the books but in the game they have that timeline where they actually mention all kinds of stuff from said "heretical" books
plus he gets his ass blown sky high and how are they gonna clone him from a hair? the man is bald so good luck with that hahaha
complete crap
i think you guys who run this site are great because you know all this stuff about games and you make so many funny articles
but please for the love of god stop making articles about halo games because you have proven again and again that you don't understand the series!
master chief is obviously not sgt. forge, despite all the little hints probably put in the game as a joke
just look at the height of him compared to the other spartans in the game
do you really think master chief could shrink from 7 ft to 6 ft just to disguise himself as a marine?
also they are not making halo 4
you've mentioned it in a few articles and you have no evidence to back it up
the clip in legendary mode of halo 3 may point to a new story but it wouldn't be a game, if it was made it would probably be a novel or graphic novel
also they couldn't have cloned forge because it's stated in the books that cloning entire humans doesn't work, they just die of diseases after a few months
and even if you don't believe the books, there's enough evidence in the games: why hasn't anyone else been cloned? captain keyes? his daughter?
Gosh, internets, at the site of a pretty girl your sarcasm detectors just stop working. Could you really not tell that the Chief/Forge thing was a joke? Like, we can't believe they made a Halo game without Master Chief, so we inserted him into the story thru sheer wishful thinking and wacky Photoshops because its the only way to make Halo Wars interesting? Or maybe its just because we love Master Chief so unrelentingly that we see him everywhere. You know, now I think about it the guy who bagged my groceries last night looked just like...
"The Master Chief's backstory is never explained in the games. A prequel of Halo: Combat Evolved, the 2001 novel The Fall of Reach, reveals much of the character's history and was released as a companion to the game. The Master Chief, originally named John, was born in 2511 and first lived with his family on the human colony planet Eridanus II. Large for his six years of age, and approximately a foot above his school peers, he is described as a typical boy with brown hair, freckles and a gap between his two front teeth.[15] In 2517, John and seventy-four other children his age are covertly taken from their homes and replaced with flash clones to hide the kidnapping. The original children are brought to planet Reach, one of the UNSC's headquarters, to begin intense physical and psychological training to become SPARTAN-II supersoldiers.[15] They are assigned new identification numbers instead of last names; John becomes known as John-117. Approximately eight years later, John and the other children are biologically and cybernetically augmented and enhanced. These procedures had substantial risks;[15] only John and thirty-two other Spartans survive.[15]"

uhh sorry gamesradar, but im gonna have to shatter your theory
reading all the novels and following the halo story line, we know that master chief was never a sergeant
also master chief was never present at harvest during the attack on harvest, instead he was briefed on the situation and sent to another location, where he got his new mjolnir armor (the one seen in halo 1)
so even IF he went to harvest after being debriefed, its almost guaranteed that he would use his new armor
also masterchief's first battle with the covenant was AFTER the situation in Harvest
also the comparison to the face is not correct, bungie already stated that the "face" is a photoshopped picture of an employee, and has no bearing on what masterchief looks like
i know you guys really dont mean this article to be serious, and im probably overreacting, but many people will think that that IS the master chief, and being a hardcore halo fan im just informing the people who read this article
SHORT VERSION
-MasterChief was never at harvest during the time of Halo Wars
-The face in the beta was a photoshopped picture of a bungie employee
No way. Its pritty obvious that the master cheif is really...... Fedor Emelianenko. I mean really who else can kick a$$ like that guy. Same head shape aswell Kinda
I have a theory which I think is pretty good. I believe John Forge is John-117's clone(Now if you've read the first book you'll understand where I'm coming from). The UNSC started taking kids from familys and sent them to become spartans, and away to a void parents saying "the army kidnapped my kid" they would create a clone for a replacement. Since this article has back bone on its theory it would make sense if it was Master Chief's clone.
NOBODY in amidst all this toot about Master Chief (Who in an ideal world would be Count Arthur Strong - google him, or use Wikipedia or Youtube or whatever.) has noticed the similarity between that person who might have been Professor Anders and Cortana.
